Update on Tomic

Never wanted Tomic this year. This next season he needs to stay in Spain.
This is his make or break year. If he takes another step up then he's still progressing, and is a clear NBA player.

Locke had a tweet a couple of weeks ago that Tomic was signing a new 4 year deal to stay in Europe. I've written him off based on that.

Why do these guys put there names into the draft if there never going to come over? They just screw over teams who select them.

Biggest case is Fran Vasquez, totally screwed Orlando big time.

Its not fair, if these guys dont wanna come over then dont enter the friggin draft.

They don't. When they turn 22, they're automatically eligible to be drafted.

But they should probably change that rule.

Lot of teams of course like to take flyers in the second round and draft the intl guys knowing they may never come over, but as Mr. Millsap and others have shown it is possible to get a good player in the 2nd round.

Back in '99, the Spurs took a flyer on 22 year old Manu Ginobili, despite his lengthy contract that scared away every other NBA team. I don't think they regret taking that chance, nor having to wait three years for him to get to San Antonio.

He was drafted in the second round folks. Were we really expecting much anyway?

I mean, if his supposed 4 year EURO contract ends when he is 28 and he is a superstar over there, he may think "Hey, I'm dominating over here. I want to try the NBA now." That would be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath.
