The only reason that I can see that you don't believe the embassy should be in the city that both Israel and the US recognize as the capital of their country is that you think some people in the region will be pissed off about it. If those people are pissed off about it the only reason I can imagine for that is they hold out hope that Jerusalem will not permanently belong to the Jews. I think it is right and reasonable for us to signal that control of Jerusalem is not a negotiating point. I believe that ultimately this move will not be seen as the negative you are expecting by reasonable people. Meanwhile, unreasonable people are going to get pissed off by this, but if it wasn't for this they would just find something else to get pissed off about instead.
