Utah will beat Utah St and BYU. Last year was in Logan, their QB got hurt, their backup was a DII QB, Blechen and Kruger were out and it still took OT and bad calls for USU to win. In the last 20 years, Utah has won 70% of the games in Provo. Add in the hiatus, a chance to win 4 in a row, and a better team than last year = win for the Utes.

I see them splitting the Arizona schools. 4-1.

OSU is a toss up. Oregon is a loss. Stanford is a loss. 4-3 (1 toss up). WSU and Colorado had better be wins. 6-3 (1 toss up). That leaves the LA games. I think both are toss ups. 6-3 (3 toss ups). Those three games will take a season from promising, to good, to fantastic depending on if Utah wins.

Everyone is down on Utah, but remember this:

Everything went wrong for Utah last year and they still won 5 games. They were a couple plays away from beating USU and OSU. They are better this year than last. Whitt excels as the underdog. They will surprise people this year.

If the Utes do what you say they're going to do, they'll probably be in the Pac-12 Championship game (winning 9-10 games).

I don't see it. In fact, I don't see them "surprising" anyone this year. I feel like that schedule dooms a pretty darn average Ute team. The 04/08 Utes would struggle with that schedule let alone this brand.

I know most fans have focused on the improvement of the offense... Or the need to improve it. But has anyone brought up the pathetic DL/LB play? Ummmmm, and losing your entire DL from last year isn't going to help. I think a lot of Utes (since usually they're bandwagoneers anyway) ;) don't know that Star is gone and the Krugers thought they were good enough to play in the NFL. BTW, are most Ute fans upset over this? Couldn't the Krugers have stayed another year or so and actually been drafted?

The Utes looked slow and completely outclassed last year on defense. Am I right? For whatever steps that offense takes forward that defense could easily take steps backward (which is really bad news since the defense was far from being very good last year). Is the defense a concern for Ute fans? Or isn't it?

Green,

Why are you using the Utah St. game as some sort of a positive for this year? First of all, losing Wynn was the best thing that could have happened for Utah and thee worst thing that could have happened for Utah St. Utah St. wasn't prepared for the running style offense that Brian Doman could use now that Wynn was gone. Had Wynn played that entire game Utah would have lost by 3+ TDs. Furthermore, while I believe Erickson will eventually lift Utah, it's going to take some time. Wilson, isn't a passing QB, but a running. It's going to take some time for him to get Erickson's offense. Whereas, Keaton and his coaches are going to be off and running early on in the season.

IMO, the Aggies are the clear favorite since this game is played so early. By the end of the season, that Ute offense might look pretty darn good. But early on? Expect some struggles. That Aggie offense? Should pick up right where it let off from last year.

What do other Ute fans think about this? Aren't you folks concerned about the early struggles that this offense might have? How long it might take for this offense to really gel? Does it even have the talent to gel? Is Wilson really the answer?

I think this offense has some legit concerns. Replacing Brian Doman with Erickson isn't going to solve everything immediately. And that's completely ignoring the other side of the ball which brings in a whole new D-line and linebackers who couldn't tackle a chair. Blechen? Huge question mark. He's coming off one horrible season last year. Will he rebound? Questions questions questions.

IMO, they will split the in-state rivalry. The more and more i think about it... I think they lose to the Aggies but win against BYU. I think the Utes are in the Cougs' heads. Whereas... I think the Aggies aren't afraid of the Utes but the Cougs won a slight mental advantage over the Aggies.

In fact, I really do think that all 3 schools will go 1-1 against each other. It just depends on the day. Sometimes, I think that there's no way BYU loses to Utah AGAIN especially since it's in Provo. Then, I think that there's no way the Aggies with Keaton at QB lose to a Utah team that is still trying to install a new offense. Then, I think that the Aggies will be miss Coach A a lot and might drop... So I don't know what to expect.

The major question is, will suspenders be back against BYU? Will he still run away when Bronco looks his way?

Yeah that was weak but then again lets compare something similar and see who wins.

It sucks. Thoughts and prayers go out. And it serves as a reminder to use your head. Drive safely (22 hrs without sleep is a recipe for disaster) and always buckle up.

As much **** as we all talk, this kind of thing is real and it does, in fact, suck. Thoughts and prayers.
