Utah Jazz (5-7) vs Brooklyn Nets (5-7) Tonight 7pm

Favors is a solid starting 5 in the league and it looked like he had better chemistry with Rubio than Gobert has had. However, the keyword was 'Solid', Gobert is elite. If Gobert isn't jiving with Rubio, you don't change the team to fit who works best with Rubio. You change the team to what fits with Gobert. Otherwise your just building an average/above average team when you should be focusing on what needs to be done to build an elite team.

I know it's not a popular opinion around here, but you guys need to stop thinking about "building around Gobert" on offense. You don't build around a C with no jumpshot, no post moves, not the best hands and not even a reliable FT stroke so he can force his way to the line. Rudy right now is the main piece for the Jazz because he's a difference maker on D, but Utah won't be a top team as long as they're trying to accommodate the offense to him. He needs to be the stalwart that he is on defense, and just a guy who gets a dozen points a game off of putbacks and a few easy buckets inside.

This was my favorite game of Mitchell so far. I love how he plays fearless and keeps his demeanor and swag high. I feel he played a lot better in this game than others for a few reasons. 1) The Nets (not taking anything away from him, but I don't think the Nets are anything special.) 2) His shot selection was much improved. Mitchell often tries to do too much, highly because he's forced to with the Jazz's stagnant offense. This game, he put the ball on the floor and took it to the hole. He's very crafty with his footwork, hesitation dribble, athleticism, and getting close to the rim without being blocked (although he got blocked on a few layups this game by Booker.) I also liked how he didn't settle for those awkward looking teardrops he's been working on with the Jazz and instead of releasing the shot from 10-12' out, to took it in closer and scored (at 1 min and 19 seconds he does make his teardrop shot.) I want him to add that to his game, just not force it. 3) Mitchell has unbelievably active hands. This is something that's hard to teach or learn. He gets steals and as you can see on the last play of this video, a tip-in.

Would like him to be more consistent and limit some of his turnovers. He had like 2 or 3 in a row in the first half from trying to force drives and passes.

On a side note, as much as I've railed Mitchell for shooting so poorly (he has) he's tied for being the rookie with the most 20 point games this year. Props, dude.

Whos had the best chemisty with Gobert to date??
Exum looked like he was working with Gobert pretty well. Like someone else mentioned Ingles has got good report with him. I think that Mitchell has shown a few impressive assists, but I get what your saying.

His hands are actually pretty impressive now days as long as he is getting garbage passes. Also his FT % is getting better and is already better than a lot of big men in the league. I agree, and i'm not advocating for building the offense around Gobert. He is at his best as a 3rd or 4th option who can get you 12-16 points a game. I was arguing that Gobert's strengths are greater and better for the team than the strengths of Favors or Rubio or anyone else on our team so far.
