Utah Jazz Select Walter Clayton Jr, Pick 18 (Trade)

Ya I have also soured a bit as time has passed (and I was a bit sour in the first place)
Trading up to then pass on Kas was galaxy-brain stupid. I’m praying that my takes will look dumb but I just cannot believe what happened. WCJ wasn’t even in consideration for me, would’ve been thrilled if he was there at 43, I guess?

Best argument is he would be a good model for Ace of anyone we could’ve drafted at that point.

WCJ straight up played better than Kas to end the season. Better shooter who produced as the alpha on the best team in the country in high stakes, clutch moments.

Kas was coming back from injury, is three years younger, bigger, and vastly more skilled on the ball.

WCJ is a grinder and clutch, no doubt. As to whether that translates to the NBA level is a big question. Trey Burke was also clutch as all hell and that never mattered.

So Walter Clayton gets the Jamal Murray comps and so does Keyonte... do we have 2 Jamal Murray's at home!!!
it should be noted that at age 21, Murray averaged 18 and 5 on 53.8 TS. Key at age 21 averaged 17 and 6 on 53.9 TS%. In Murray's next season he went for 18 and 4 on 55.9% TS. Key is actually very similar to Murray with perhaps better PG skills - just needs to continue a slight improvement in efficiency to reach that level.

You gotta stop doing the PPG/APG analysis on Key. We all know better.
