Utah Jazz Summer League Topic

Wait, I guess Chris Johnson is only partially guaranteed? We could cut him and have one open spot. I'm guessing we cut him before his fully guarantee date and do the 10 day contract thing we do every year.

Chris Johnson and Jeff Withey are only fully guaranteed if they are under contract on 1/10/17 (at least according to Basketball Insiders) Both could be cut for a roster spot.

With the Jazz sitting Lyles tomorrow, how many points do you think the Jazz will score, do they break 50pts for the game, good lord this team (yes I understand the limitations in trying to put together a roster for the Jazz) is the worst looking summer league team I can ever remember, again just speaking in terms of how this team looks after 4 games, on paper there may be worse but not on the court that I can ever remember.

And I don't care about the losses just how they look out on the court is pretty pathetic, well that is one thing they can do well is pretty consistently look pathetic, so I guess they have that going for them.

That game could get ugly without Lyles.

I don't think it's a (total) coincidence that the Jazz have just enough cap space to renegotiate Favors' contract up to the max this season.

Locke has implied that this is unlikely to happen.

He could get more money waiting.
That's not true though. He can get two (or three) additional years by waiting, but the Jazz could renegotiate his contract to make it worth more over the next four seasons than his current contract plus the first two years of a max contract signed in 2018.

He said that before the 2017/18 cap was lowered. I noticed Harden did a renogiation/extension shortly after that was announced, so no reason Favors wouldn't be interested in doing it also. That is, if he likes it here enough.

What was his reasoning?

I'm paraphrasing, and he was speaking about the issue indirectly, but a difference in perceived market value was implied. On his podcast a few weeks ago.

My speculation is that DFav is feeling bad with all the inferior bigs making more. So he would like to sign an extension similar to Harden's. While the Jazz would like to take him to max next 2 years then drop by about 40%
