I honestly think this is Carlisle. He probably saw that our defense has a tendency to watch ball so slightly rotating around the arc and you're open on a drive.

I never understood why in 2017, after a decade of evidence otherwise, teams fear a random 6'3 dude penetrating into the lane more than a wide open shooter at the arc. Let them penetrate. It's not like the Mavs have great slashers or finishers.
