Rudy has owned Davis head-to-head for the last three years. He really steps up against him.
The difference now is the potential of the James/Davis pick n'roll. If the Lakers' shooters are hitting, it will be deadly.
But against the Jazz, it has to be deadly. Because the Jazz's offense is gonna be near unstoppable for everybody.
The question with the Lakers is how consistently guys like Lebron, Kuzma and AD, whom they'll rely on for offense, will play defense. Make those guys make defensive rotations and decisions, and they might not bother. Lebron was a part-time defender, at best, last year. That's how he saves his energy. AD can turn on the defense when he wants to, so maybe it's a motivation issue with him. Kuzma is a bit soft. The Lakers will score out of their Lebron/AD pick-and-roll sets, but defense will be the key to them making a real playoff run.

I think both the Jazz and the Lakers are going to make some notable changes before the trade deadline.
I can see the Lakers bouncing Dwight Howard and making some trades for his replacement as well as trading some others for a decent PG.
I think Exum is very limited as a Jazzman. It will be interesting to see the two rosters in a few months.

That Lakers roster is soooo bad defensively. Only a couple of players who are willing to play defense.

Their roster to me seems like a makeshift solution to taking their team success to another level. Not because of the new additions, but because of who the new additions are. They are no doubt talented, but seem like odd pairing in terms of team chemistry. I could be completely wrong and just blinded by the potential I see in the Jazz roster, but they seem like a temporary unit to me. Their scrambling to become relevant.
The Jazz on the other hand have put together the island of misfit toys, and I can see their chemistry being strong as rocks.
Conley has never been an All-Star and is well deserving of it.
Gobert has been snubbed from All-Star honors and
Mitchell was snubbed of ROY honors to a guy that was only a rookie on paper.

This is most likely the Laker starting lineup. Davis said he doesn't want to play center. The Lakers have a better roster than I thought they would have but the Jazz depth is better. Can't wait for the season to begin.
