Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

What's in it for the Kings? The salary savings are minimal.

They save $5M in salary and open up a roster spot next year if they don't pick up Thabo's option. Thabo also gives them a contract they can trade at draft night if they want to match salaries. Can't do that with cap space.

If the Cavs are backing out of the deal, then they likely don't expect a better deal than what they were offered... otherwise they would have done it.

Shump will absolutely pick up his option. If he wants out he will make them buy him out.

Locke mentioned on his podcast today that he increasingly gets the feeling Favors really enjoys being here and playing for the Jazz. He then mentioned he talked to someone in the league who said a guy like Favors may end up getting something like a one year $8 million deal, basically saying players are going to find out this offseason the big money they are looking for isn’t going to be there.

My question is if this is true, do you just try to resign Favors? Especially if Favors is willing to take a back up roll? I get that’s unlikely but if Favors would try as hard as he did last night on most nights Favors is a very talented and capable big man with decent handles. I still think it’s likely Favors is gone before the dead line but it doesn’t seem for sure.

It may not happen because there aren't enough expiring contracts to do an expiring for expiring plus a draft asset deal. If the Bucks had an expiring contract and could do a 1 for 1 while sending back a second round pick or two I think you'd see a deal.

Dallas is one I have thought might do something like that... maybe philly.

I don't think he'd re-sign to be a backup to Rudy... he might sign cheap somewhere else, but would require a change of scenery.

Supposedly the Cavs deal for Hill is off for now. I'm guessing Gilbert saw the LT bill for that one and pooped his pants and told people he wanted to sell the team... the last part might not be true.

The report stated the Kings want to move Hill and might buy him out (he'd have to take a huge paycut if they go that route is my guess).

DL lets mend some fences here. Hill was perfect in our system... he would be great with DM and Exum next year. He may not be durable but has been good healthwise so far.

Ricky and Thabo for George Hill and Richardson (or skal... I'd include a second for him). Ricky makes a little less you can cut or decline Thabo. Ricky says he will be very nice and not pout.

Come on peoples lets make this happen.

31 years old, 19 million per year, injury prone and won't play through pain even in big games, and to top it off he clearly did not want to be part of this team he was just looking for a payday. Hard pass. I don't want him anywhere near this team again.

Atlanta is home, they are rebuilding. He would fit right into the low key -low expectations season they will have.

I think you are stretching things a bit.

I remember the guy that played well for us averaging 17/4/3 while shooting 48% from the field and 40% from 3... played 36 minutes a game in the playoffs until his foot quit on him.

Better defender than Ricky, stretches the floor, and doesn't turn the ball over. I think they disagreed on money and he ended up regretting it. They never got to talk during FA because we had already found our guy.

Yeah I wondered if they would do expirings and a second rounder for him. They have a few.

My hope for a dream line-up is still alive....Gobert, Love, Parker, Ingles, Mitchell.

With Neto, Royce, Mikal Bridges, and some other guys off the bench.

It sounds like Orlando doesnt really want much for Fournier. They want another wing player back and one report suggested they might have interest in Burks.

Would they do Burks and JJ for Fournier? I would do that deal in a heartbeat if they had interest and even throw in a couple 2nds.

Fournier has the french connection obviously, he also worked with Kokoskov who was a coach in Orlando, and he is a great shooter coming off screens which our team could really use. Also he is a solid spot up shooter.

Aboout Fornier:
As a spot-up shooter, his score frequency (49.5 percent) and his scoring efficiency (1.31 points per possession) are both second-best in the league among those with as many opportunities. Utah has called spot-up plays more often than all but two teams in the league, which shows Fournier can fit right in with their offense.

His effective field goal percentage (63.3 percent) on catch-and-shoot attempts ranks Top 10 among high-volume shooters. The Jazz, meanwhile, rank in the Bottom 10 for effective field goal percentage on this shot type.

the only high-volume shooter who has a higher field goal percentage on shots taken from between 16 feet and 24 feet of the basket is Stephen Curry.

ranks Top 10 overall in points scored off screens (3.1 per game) so far this season. Only three teams have a lower score frequency (37.4 percent) than the Jazz on this play type so far this season.
