Tanking? They would have Klay Thompson and Kevin Love.Yeah, I'd want something back, but I don't want Iguodala, and Klay doesn't really have that much value on an expiring contract on what's destined to be a tanking team.

This is extremely bold and pretty much keeps us out of free agency the next two years (would we be players anyway?):
Burks and Thabo for Noah, NY's top 1 protected 2018 pick, and a future pick swap
then
Joe Johnson for Asik, Jackson and NOLA's top 10 protected 2018 1st.
We would add about $18 million in contracts for next year (Noah+Asik+Jackson-Burks) and $19 for 2019, but we gain a promising PG in Jackson, a top 10 pick and a top 20 pick. We could probably stretch Noah before summer 2019.
That adds about 23M in 2019. I just don’t like having that much completely dead salary on the books. AB is at least a rotation player at a position with scarcity. Removing him and adding 30m in completely dead money just feels icky.
Hmm, yeah, forgot about Love. Not a contender, anyway. Then again, perhaps they continue by offloading Love and Klay and _then_ tank...Tanking? They would have Klay Thompson and Kevin Love.
Who is Mirotic's agent?
According to Realgm his agent is Aylton Tesch. Who is the agent for multiple foreign players in the NBA. Including Raul Neto.
Noah
McDermott
Cash considerations
This year's unprotected
Two future pick swaps
Burks
Rubio
Hopefully he knows enough (and is pretty damn sure on that) to wait it out. If so, kudos, but I still see it possible that another team can swoop in unexpected who wants his second year.Sounds like The Jazz are still frontrunners for Niko.

"The Utah Jazz continue to be the team considered the front-runner to land Mirotic, but they have been unwilling to part with a first-round pick to seal the deal."

It seems clear no one wants to take Niko for a first unless they can also use it as a cap clearing move, meaning maintaining his team option for flexibility in the offseason (e.g., New Orleans). Obviously Niko isn't ok with that (with the possible exception of the Jazz, because he really does seem to have Utah as his number one destination). Sure looks more and more like Chicago is going to have to lower the asking price. DL is looking pretty great right now.
