Great article on him in this week's SPORTS ILLUSTRATED. Couldn't find it online or would have posted. #3 in the nation in scoring, yet doesn't have to have to dominate with the ball always in his hands; Coach's son; underrated; chip on his shoulder; In win against Drake, he scored 30 points on 14 shots and 9 free-throws, and ball was in his hands for a total of only 1:23 minutes (he played 33 minutes in the game), scored every 2.8 seconds which mean he is a catch-and-shoot guy and would look great coming off the curl. If he leaves for the draft and Utah ends up getting 2 first round picks, he could be a great pick up with that 2nd pick.

I'd rather the Jazz find a way to get the nation's #1 scorer. More efficient than McDermott, and last I checked, McDermott was 2nd in efficiency.

I played with this kid after my senior year in high school. Doug McD actually played on the same team as Harrison Barnes in HS. We also had Boozer's little brother on our team and some other good Iowa players. But, Doug was going into his senior year in HS, and when he got put in the game, it was like holy **** dude can you miss? He is really good. His dad coaches that team out in Creighton, and they have been successful. I would love to have him go to the Jazz. Pretty sure he is a Lakers fan tho lol. Ya and your right he is a catch and shoot guy. He can drive, he just doesn't do it that often. He wasn't a huge prospect in HS I think that may have been Harrison's doing but, they also got pulled out at halftime all the time because they were murdering teams.

(Funny story about Boozer's lil bro actually. During the Boozer off-season drama, I asked Charles "Is your bro coming back to utah?" awkward silence....... "Ya, he loves utah.")

I bet he doesn't get many fouls called on him, simply because people don't enjoy saying, "Foul on McDermott!"

Kyle Korver is not a good comparison here. Doug is more athletic, and plays defense.
Are you sure? From what I've read, he's less athletic than Korver. And Korver tries to play defense, but iso'd against a good player he's hopeless.

Yes I grew up in Iowa, played on Kirk Kover's AAU. Played against a couple of the Korvers, and have seen Kyle play a ton even at the college level. I have played against Doug plenty of times and there is no way in hell I miss his games on TV, because he was a friend of mine when we played together. Doug is more athletic then Kyle. I have seen him and Harrison go against each other as well. Doug can do a decent job, the thing is he has always been a PF who likes to shoot from the perimeter. He has a great shot, but he is still working on his ball handling and defense. I should have said he plays better defense. I don't seem him being a lockdown defender in the NBA. He has gained tons of weight so that looks like it should help. But, he hasn't been guarding the perimeter that much even in a college setting. He is almost like a tweener. I honestly didn't expect him to be in this position where he could be a 1st round pick in the NBA draft. He always played with his back to the basket, with great moves and an amazing shot. Now he is developing more of a faceup game and is playing outside much more.

Like hell McDermott is athletic. He plays PF for Creighton, he'll go outside and shoot open 3's but rarely shoots contested ones. Think of a smaller, slightly more athletic Matt Bonner.

Right because you have seen him so much more than me right? He is more athletic then you think

Why are we speculating on this kid being a Jazzman? The odds that any one player being a Jazzman or that anyone has any clue at this point who are draft choices might be must be at least a few thousand to 1. If someone likes this kid fine, i am willing to learn about him but this type of speculation is a moot point. We need shooters, so maybe you guys are just beating the bushes? KOC is paid to do this, and if he doesn't, maybe we should cyber-hang him in effigy (mostly not serious).
