Utes 2011 Football Discussion

You said "Utah has a real shot at going undefeated next season", but are only willing to bet that they don't go winless. meh.

Do you not see how this puts you at a major advantage? It shouldn't matter who I think they'll lose to, only that they will have more losses than you predict.
Not at all. It removes the option of you blindly guessing. If you're going to label me a homer, lets see if you're qualified to do that. Or if you just want to call me a homer because you think it makes you look cool to the haters.

Calling me a homer and then throwing out some blind guess is not an option that I support. Lets see what you really know.

And before you even try to go there, I already said I'd be happy to do the same with BYU. The catch is we both have to pick our team (Utah for me, BYU for you) in the head to head match up. You already said you think BYU has a better than average chance to win, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I said Utah has a real shot to go undefeated if they fix the offense. Right now they don't even have an OC, so we have no idea what kind of offense they will have.

Northern Colorado, Utah State, and BYU are the out of conference games. lol, we're really scheduling like a BCS team now.

Conference games are the same as this year, except in the other stadium.

All jokes aside, looking at that schedule I don't see how Utah loses more than 2 regular season games (if that). And if the offense gets itself together, Utah has a real shot at going undefeated next season (at least in the regular season). It's pretty early and all, but I bet even the haters will find a hard time going on record and predicting more than 2 of these games as losses:

Thur., Aug. 30
Northern Colorado at Utah

Sat. Sept. 8

I see nothing about the offense here.

But good on ya for predicting they'll win at least 1 game. Ballsy.

For what it's worth, even other Utah fans have repeatedly called you a homer. That's saying something.

I'm not betting anything with you. You have too many rules that stack the deck in your favor.

Oh really? Let me point it out for you:

How do the rules stack the deck in my favor? I'm willing to make the same predictions for BYU losses that I am asking you to make for Utah. And I am willing to make Utah win predictions as long as you make BYU win predictions.

Seems like the deck is pretty equal there.

Apples and oranges. What does BYU have to do with this? We are betting on Utah's success, not BYU's.

Seems like the deck is pretty equal there.

So if I pick USC, Washington and Colorado as losses but Utah loses to USC, Washinton & OSU I lose the bet even though you were wrong in saying that they'd have at most, 2 losses? Can you not see the stupidity of me making that bet or how it works in your favor?

Again, you say Utah has a maximum of 2 losses, I say Utah has a minimum of 3. That is the bet. So simple. So easy. Take it or leave it.

But this isn't, and has never been about me just flat out picking 10 Utah wins.

There, was that so hard.
You don't think the Utes will win 10 games.

I had to do a bit of wading, but it's nice to have you finally admit you will not put money on picking 10 Utah wins, because deep down you know it won't happen.

So, let me make sure I understand:
Salty wants to bet one of two things. Either Utah doesn't lose more than two games (which he'll bet right now), but the other party has to pick the exact three games they'll lose, or he bets they'll go undefeated (but he want to wait until they hire a new OC).
Salty won't take the opposite of the first bet. He won't pick the ten or eleven games Utah will win. He just want to say they'll win. If the other person won't specify which games they lose, no bet.
Yup, sounds about right for Salty. He'll only do things his way, no highway option.

Tell you what Salty. I'll bet you $50 right here and now that Utah doesn't go undefeated next season. I don't care if God Himself comes down to be the OC. They will not go undefeated. I'll even give you the option to cancel the bet based on one injury throughout the year. You don't need to name the injury right now. You can name it after it happens. Any player, any game. You name the injury after it happens, and starting the next game, the bet is off. Deal?

Apples and oranges. What does BYU have to do with this? We are betting on Utah's success, not BYU's.
We're betting to find out if I'm really a homer, or if you're just a hater. You throwing out a blind guess doesn't answer that question. So to make things equal, I'm willing to go on record and predict BYU losses too.

You'd lose the bet because you didn't know what the heck you were talking about when you called me a homer for predicting no more than 2 losses. Yes, you may have got lucky and ended up with the right answer. But this isn't about getting lucky and ending up with the right answer. It's about if there is any logic and reasoning for you calling me a homer, or if you just do it to be cool with the rest of the haters.

Again, you say Utah has a maximum of 2 losses, I say Utah has a minimum of 3. That is the bet. So simple. So easy. Take it or leave it.
So tell me the losses and we're good. And if you don't like those odds, we can go double or nothing and I'll pick 3 BYU losses. We each take our team in head to head though.

I said I'll pick 10 Utah wins as long as we also bet on 10 BYU wins.
