Utes 2011 Football Discussion

You're really not going to have any success what so ever in that offense without a 6-4 QB with an NFL arm, O-lineman who can win at the point of attack and a stable of RB's who can pound the rock.

Is there anyone in the NCAA (or high school, little league, whatever) that couldn't have success on offense with a 6' 4" QB that had an NFL arm, o-line that wins at the point of attack, and a stable of RB's who can pound the rock? Especially with receivers like the Utes have.

I get that he is probably helping recruiting. I just wish he could do that without calling the plays (if he can't call plays that are suited for the players we have right now).

Chow's ego is reportedly off the charts. I highly doubt he is going step away from the play calling. As far as your other point, I do believe Utah is going to need that type of offensive talent if they want to compete at the top of the Pac 12 on a consistant basis. Otherwise, they'll still be making annual trips to the Vegas Bowl.

Please do and take Bronco with him while you are at it.

Roscoe is bad news. He is a large part of what is wrong with BYU right now. IMO, he is the largest factor in the Fall of Heaps. He has handled his quarterback situation about as horribly as he could, two years running.

A little off topic here, I would take Heaps in a second (though I don't believe he will go to Utah when he transfers). Give him a coach who hasn't fallen victim to the hype, and has the balls to tell him what he needs to be told, he's back on track to being a solid NFL prospect.

Roscoe and Doman you can keep.

A solid NFL prospect? Holy **** you're high.

I did say previously in the year that I wouldn't mind Heaps going to SC and trying to take over when Barkley's done so I totally agree with you. Say what you want about high school highlight tapes and such, but I see so much in Heaps' that I think should transfer to the college game given a few elements fall into place for him. The best part about transferring would be that it forces him to take that redshirt year and develop under a new coach. I definitely don't hate the guy's game or anything, it's just a bad mix for what BYU has going on(or not going on) right now.

Heaps to Utah might not be that far off actually. I know his parents moved to Utah and left behind a business that ended up crumbling so maybe they would be anti-uprooting once again if they have something going here now. Or maybe they want to go back to Washington. I don't know. But it wouldn't shock me if that was his choice if his parents are still going to be going along with him wherever he ends up.

lol, totally agreed.

Heaps was hyped coming out of high school, but he's pretty much sucked at the college level.

I would hate it if he transferred to Utah.

It's just another physical talent that would be able to battle for a spot when Jordan is gone. It would be worth a 1 schollie risk. Who knows how he could develop under Chow? The funny thing with Heaps is that I think he's actually overtrained in a few aspects of his game. If somebody can figure how to unteach him a few tendencies he learned over the years, that's going to be the key.

Your ability to see just to the end of your nose never fails to amaze me.

Heaps is never coming to Utah, so you can relax.

The fact that you hate him makes me like him even more. You've been about as wrong as one person can be about how this season is turning out. Glad I didn't book my Rose Bowl trip in advance.

Don't you know? He NEVER said that Utah would be in the Rose Bowl.

Care to back that up with something? What was I wrong about? That Utah would compete for the Pac 12 South? And here they are poised to finish second (at least tied for second) after one of the most injury plagued seasons in recent history?

Please show me where I said Utah would be in the Rose Bowl. Or do you just like making crap up about other posters to make yourself look better after such a stupid statement? Heaps was never an NFL prospect, and likely never will be.

No worries Bronco, I got your back.

Mr. I never said Utah would be in the Rose Bowl. said:
Just remember, blowing chunks in your opinion or not, the Pac 12 champ goes to the Rose Bowl. And maybe even the national championship, with the second place Pac 12 team going to the Rose Bowl.

I can see it's really going to hurt BYU fans when Utah is in the Pac 12 championship game while BYU is preparing for the nobody cares bowl.

Utah, on the other hand, doesn't have to worry about any of that. If they win the Pac 12 Championship game, they are in the Rose Bowl. And if they lose the Pac 12 Championship game, they still go to the Rose Bowl if the Pac 12 Champion is in the national championship game (which is not a far fetched scenario at all).

All I was saying is that it's not too far fetched that Utah could lose the Pac 12 Championship game and still play in the Rose Bowl this year.

Utah sucked last night, no doubt. But Utah can still be in the Pac 12 championship game.

Utah is still very much in the running for the PAC 12 South. In fact, if Utah wins next week, the division is Utah's to lose.

If the Utes win the rest of the conference games they still have a great chance to be in the Pac 12 championship game.

I'm still very optimistic. Maybe some Ute fans don't realize this isn't the MWC anymore and the Utes are still in this thing? 2 losses in the MWC and the season would be over. But the Utes still have a legit chance to play in the Pac 12 championship game. And anything can happen in 1 game, so if the Utes make it to the Pac 12 championship game, the Rose Bowl is not out of the question.

I'm trying to figure out if you're trolling or if you really don't understand?

Just in case, dude, the Rose Bowl invites the winner of the Pac 12 championship game. Saying Utah will compete for the Pac 12 South is NOT the same as saying they will WIN the Pac 12 South, then WIN the Championship game.

Saying something is technically possible is not the same thing as predicting it will happen. and if you thought I was predicting it would happen, you should have tried to bet if you thought it was outlandish. I wouldn't have bet, because I knew darn well Utah wasn't beating Oregon or Stanford in the Pac 12 Championship game, even if they did win the South.

Nice try, but you're on an epic fail roll the last few days and this is no different.

Either you have no idea what you're talking about and somehow think those quotes mean I was predicting a Rose Bowl for the Utes, or you're just trolling because you have nothing of value to add. No telling which, it is coming from you.
