Utes 2011 Football Discussion

I guess I just haven't seen enough from Crist to get excited about the possibility of getting him.

I'm certainly not against getting him. I'd welcome just about anyone at this point. Hays sucks and Wynn is probably done, so we definitely need help at QB.

I'm just not praying that he comes to Utah, or even excited about the possibility. If he comes to Utah, fine, and if not that's fine too.

I know he's better than Hays. I don't know if he's better than Shreve, Wilson, or Hansen. Not saying he isn't better than those guys, just that I haven't seen enough of him to know. All I know about him is Notre Dame was a whole lot better without him. That can be due to him getting a raw deal, sure. And if he comes to Utah I'll certainly be rooting for him. I guess I'll cross that bridge when (if) I come to it.

I just can't bring myself to get excited about a guy who did nothing at best, sucked and hurt his team at worst, who might or might not decide to transfer to Utah. Maybe if we had no prospects at QB it would be different. But right now we have prospects that I'm already excited about who haven't proven to be disappointments at the college level yet.

If he does end up coming to Utah, then I'll probably watch some highlights and get excited about him. In fact, it's almost guaranteed that will happen if he comes to Utah. But I'm not going to get excited about the possibility that he might or might not choose Utah. He hasn't done enough at the college level to warrant it.

Not sure if it's been discussed here yet but what are people's thoughts here on the Georgia Tech bowl game? How do fans see it playing out?

Should be a great game. Georgia Tech's strength is running the ball, Utah's strength is stopping the run. I'll give an early prediction and say Utah wins a close, low scoring game. Should be a good one though.

Utah is playing about the best team they could at this stage. I think it'll be a close game, but I think Utah wins.

I'm not as optimistic. Georgia Tech runs the Air Force triple option and that always gave the Utes fits with AFA's players. GT has better backs so it could be interesting. Hopefully the corners can cover the occasional pass, because I can see Blechen and Rowe playing as linebackers a lot during the game.

Utah will beat GT. Weeks to prepare for the option is different than changing up your complete practice schedule vs. Air Force.

I agree with the above post in stating close at half but Utah pulls away in the 2nd. I can see something like a 27-17 game

I agree that Utah should be well prepared for the option. I am not too sure about Utah putting up 27 points though. I'm sure Georgia Tech will be well prepared for Utah's offense too (or lack thereof).

Who knows though? Maybe Chow will shock everyone by finally opening things up on offense.

Highlight video I put together for the 06 armed forces bowl..

Was looking for the bowl game vs. Navy since it was against a Paul Johnson team(didn't coach that game but still). Found this one instead, Eric Weddle and Louie Sakoda two of my fav all-time Utes. Would kill to have those guys again.
