What's new

Video Game Thread

Been way too busy playing Madden 2005 and running my bitchin playbook with even the most inferior of QB's, HB's, O-Linemen and WR's.

I really hate EA for removing custom playbooks in the newer games. That's the reason Madden is fun.

Red Dead Redemption has been sitting on my entertainment center for almost a week now, unplayed.

I just pre-order Fall Out New Vegas today. I'm pretty excited about this game.

I hadn't realized it was so close to release. I really don't have the time for any more games at the moment, but I'm sure I'll pick it up eventually, even if it's a year from now. I enjoyed the hell out of Fallout 3.

Me, I'm just finishing (or perhaps "recovering" is the better term) from a long bout of playing Borderlands. My brother convinced me to buy it so i could play online with him. I was skeptical, but like Fallout, the shooter/RPG mix works well. In particular, it implements a Diablo-like loot system that keeps you playing just to find that next cool gun. I'm a sucker for good loot systems.

Anyhow, if you like Fallout and/or Diablo, and haven't yet tried Borderlands... give it a whirl, you'll probably enjoy it.

My biggest complaint with Borderlands is that once you finish it... that's basically it. There's not much of a reason to go back through it again since it's the same game. Basically no flexibility on mission completion, no real story.. it was good, but nothing I'd recommend buying if you can play through it in a week.

The amount of weaponry in that game is insane, though.

Waiting a year or so for Fallout New Vegas isn't such a bad plan. Bethesda tends to repackage their games 10-12 months after release in a "Game of the Year" edition that includes all the downloadable content that they put out for the game post-release. $60 on October 19th and you get the stand-alone game, or $60 next August and you'll get the stand-alone game plus $30-$50 of downloadable content.

I got made fun of by kicky cause I play video games and I'm 27. Oh well, I hope when I'm 70 I'm still owning 12 year olds on XBOX live.

I don't know how it's possible, but the Ratchet and Clank series has always flown under the radar. I'm currently playing through R&C: Up Your Arsenal, first R&C game I've ever played, and it's awesome. The series always gets great reviews but I never hear anybody talk about them.
