Walter Clayton Jr. Hype Thread

Clayton is nothing special but he has no major holes and is always confident. WCJ also has one giant advantage over Collier: the 30% difference in the FT%. You simply can't have Collier on the court in the crunch times of games that matter when he is shooting 65%. You MUST replace him with Clayton and his 95%.

And that FT% has actually went down since Collier's rookie season.

I mean until or unless he improves it, 30% from three is a hole in his game.

i'll agree to disagree. i see few issues with his handle. but being a shooter whose shots don't fall (and it's not as if he's taking tough threes - 90% of them are good to great looks), it's going to hold anybody back.
Sure, but the ballhandling is the root issue as to why I think he isn't truly comfortable on the court, which has led to the bad shooting performances.

It's way too early to think it is not just due to his first months of being in the NBA, especially since Clayton was 39% over his four years in college and is currently shooting FTs at 95%.

But, if he is still shooting 30% from the 3 in March- April then it would be way more concerning.

The lack of ballhandling was just so eye opening. You can't be a 6'2 and struggle to dribble in traffic and expect to be a NBA player. Dont think hes a bust or no hope, but he has to learn more PG skills to be a NBA player.

The combination of shaky ballhandling, short arms and meh footspeed is a death sentence for an NBA point guard.

you can't come in as a shooter and shoot 30% from three. he's just 23 and can improve as a shooter, ballhandler, etc, but early on, the jazz didn't get what they drafted, hence he was included.

You and me both. Thought it was a dumb trade and poor pick
I believe we talked about how we would rather have Tyrese Proctor, who the Jazz could've drafted with the 2nd rounder they traded (along with TWO others!) for Walter Clayton Jr.

Proctor has been better. And is younger. And they would've still had their 1st to draft someone else (I would've went Kasparas or Wolf there, but there were actually quite a few people I found intriguing sitting around that spot).

Oh well.
