Was anyone traded that you wanted on the Jazz?

Going over the list of trades, I didn't seen anyone stand out, but I don't follow the NBA closely.

Who was traded that the jazz would have wanted? Eric Maynor back, maybe?
 
Maybe Eric Maynor but that's about it. No real trades went down anywhere. That leads me to believe that there was not much to be had that was reasonable.

Why? I was thinking about it yesterday and it seems like Foye is bigger, stronger, more athletic, a very good shooter, should be a better defende but I'd say its a wash. Reddick is better coming off screens but thats about all I'd give Reddick.

I don't think the point is that Trob is better than Millsap or Al. Its the fact that we are looking at losing one or both of those guys for nothing, and Trob would have been a nice asset to pick up on a rookie contract. And who knows, maybe he turns into a really good player. Favors, Kanter, and Trob would be a nice set of three bigs on rookie contracts.

Why do people make this so difficult? Its like they don't think for themselves and just believe everything the radio guys and Jazz FO tell them.

I would have traded Millsap for him. No, Trob isn't better than Millsap right now, but who cares. We have enough quality bigs for this season.

We'll see how you feel next year if and when both Millsap and Al walk.

I said I wouldn't know what to do with him, but he has a lot of potential. He was supposed to be the 3rd pick of that draft. He's good to have incase Al and Milsap walk

Redick is a much better overall offensive player. Redick is better coming off of screens. He can run the pick and roll effectively to score or pass. 4.4 apg is much better 2.2 apg. Higher true shooting percentage 59.2% vs 56.3%.

Per 82games.com Foye has a close range eFG% of 56.3. Redick has a close range eFG% of 72.9. So Redick is more effective at finishing around the hoop.

Defensively the rate as about the same- they give up 1.11 point per possession Foye vs 1.1 point per possession.

Foye is slightly heavier at 210 but Redick is 190 and both are 6'4".

Now Redick probably would have a higher price tag but he is a significantly better player.
 
It wasn't so much who I wanted on the Jazz as much as it was who I wanted off the Jazz.
 
I'd probably take Beno over any of our point guards - certainly Watson and I'd start him in front of Tinsely.
 
Foye is also having, by far, his best year shooting the 3 while Redick has been putting up about the same numbers from 3 for the last 4 years (+/- 40%).

It's a safer bet that Foye will never have another year like this from 3. He is just having a career year because he's playing for a contract.

On the other hand I think Foye can be signed for the mid-level while Redick will probably cost more.

Having said that I'd take Burks in a heart beat as my starting SG over either one of these fools.

I will send you some rep because finally a logical common sense explanation of why people are mad that the Jazz did nothing. This would have been a brilliant move not only to get something for Millsap or AJ but it also gives the Jazz some leverage when dealing with Kanter and Favors during contracts. If Trob becomes a player than the Jazz can stomach losing Favors or Kanter (not a given both stay) or they can trade Trob for the missing piece. Sounds good now add in the financial savings of having to replace/re-sign Millsap with a vet.
 
Maynor is just "meh." That's what he was before his injury. And now he's dropped down to 3rd string. I'd rather stay with Tinsley and Watson until Mo returns because that likely means Burks is going to get some playing time.

As much as I'd like to see the Jazz remain competitive, I almost hope Locke is right...that the Jazz FO is ok with letting both Jefferson and Millsap go and letting the young guys take over. But if that truly is the case, then they should have done something at the deadline. They should have taken a lesser deal like the SA one (Jax, Splitter and Mills) with SA's first thrown in. And let Millsap go to the Clippers for Odom and a first rounder. Knowing how important it is for the Jazz just to make the playoffs each season, I still say they're planning on trying to re-sign one of the two. Or I guess they could sign another couple of vets to 2-yr deals. knowing that they'll be paying Derrick, Hayward, Enes and Burks a lot of money by 2015.
