Was KOC really happy when he didn't have to decide on Jimmer?

<the biggest font ever> WHO ****ING CARES?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! </the biggest font ever>

It didn't happen, it doesn't matter.

I'm sure he was happy. This way their is no back lash when they did not take him. I don't believe they were going to take him over Burks or Leonard. If Jimmer had been on the board with either of those 2 they would have taken a lot of heat for not picking him. This way it's not their decision therefore the fans don't really have a complaint.

I don't think KOC really wanted Jimmer

I think the Millers did. Money wise for the franchise, Jimmer would have been a home run.

Greg Miller specifically said he did not mumble a word in regards to whom they should draft. It was completely in KOC and Perrin's hands.

the one semi-direct report of the jazz's thinking on jimmer came on draft day with the reports that KOC had contacted jimmer's camp and told them the jazz were "terribly divided" about him. the phrase was put in quotes, but i don't know if that's because that's how KOC phrased it to the jimmer people or that how the jimmer people shared it with whoever reported it.

either way, rumor has it that the jazz wanted burks even if jimmer or kemba had been on the board.

He did say Burks was in the top ten. Don't ask me for a link, because I heard it on the radio.

Someone else posted on this board that the Jazz had Burks at #6 on their draft board. Don't ask me to find it or whether it is credible or not.

I'd imagine Irving, Kanter, Williams, Knight, and Vesely or Valanciunas were likely higher on the Jazz's list.

Very good points Bentley. As an unabashed Jimmer fan, I'm hoping that the scenario you mentioned does indeed play out. I'm with the many who've criticized the Kings for drafting someone who, like Tyreke Evans, needs the ball in order to maximize his effectiveness. I think, even though I believe that Jimmer will become a very good NBA player, that the Kings will not be the right fit for him. I'm hoping that the Jazz will be once his stint with SacTown is over.
So, you're saying that the Jazz need a player who will dominate the ball, but you criticize the Kings for taking the exact same thing? Based on history, Jimmer's style fits in much better with the Kings than with the Jazz so I don't get your thinking at all.

I think most people, KOC included, were happy that they didn't have to decide on Jimmer.

It was a lose lose situation.

Too much pressure on Jimmer to play well and please all his fans here.
Too much pressure on Ty Corbin to play and develop him right away. If he didn't reach the status that some wanted, Ty would be criticized relentlessly.
Too much pressure on KOC. Even if Lebron James was available at 12, he'd almost be obligated to take the Jimmer due to fan pressure.

I'm glad things went down the way they did.

Burks helps us out. Has a high ceiling.
Jimmer is in sac town, can hopefully mesh with Cousins and Evans.
Sacramento has someone that can hopefully sell some jerseys and attract some fans so that hopefully they stay.

Plus, now we don't have to have weekly interviews with TJ... Or halftime shows with him rapping. Huge win in my opinion.
