you ninnies that disagree with this take are just awful. This is obviously what happened last night. Before the rain started pouring, the Rockets announcers were all saying that the jazz were playing the best perimeter defense they had seen all year.

I'm not smart enough to know if the fantastic Burks we saw a couple of weeks ago was because he played more minutes, or if he played more minutes because he was playing well. Either way, I wish a speedy return for the speedy, disciplined, dynamic Burks, and the wins that came with him.
 
Houston started their run in the 4th when Harden was on the bench - they pretty much delivered the death blow by the time he just came in.

Jazz just ran out of gas.

Not that they would have won anyway - Rockets would have to play their D game and Utah their A game for The Jazz to win in Houston.

This. Not having Rudy or Favs to protect the rim last night let Houston's guards and Capela torch us at the beginning and end of the game. We did about as well as anyone could expect for 3 quarters, then Gordon got red hot and there was little we could do about it.

The overreactions from this game are hilarious, when the Rockettes are shooting lights out from the 3 pt line there isn't much you can do to stop them and it seems to me Quin chose long-term development of DM over a slight chance at a win last night.

But let's fire Quin, trade Rudy and Derrick, fire DL, and just tank for the next 7 years so we can get a player as good as Donovan or Rudy. Then we can trade Donovan for some picks and be instant contenders!!!!!

I miss the dislike button.

They've hung with 3 of the best 4 teams the last three games and look pretty damn good for a team without a single All Star. Bring a superstar here and this group would be a contender. (but we all know that's not a realistic scenario)

I’m hoping at some point that having a guy like Donovan Mitchell (who is well liked already) and a max contract slot (someday) will allow the Jazz to get a guy like that. Either that, or they consolidate assets and put a package together for a disgruntled star at the right moment. I’d love a dynamic (and defensive) wing like Butler or PG13 right about now.

Yeah, I was mistaken, but just take out "Harden" from my post and insert "Chris Paul".

Mitchell, woth the exception of last night IS that superstar. Gobert was all-NBA without being an all-star. I think that kind of qualifies. But he obviously needs to get back to playing like he was last year. Need another all-star quality player. Then, trade our developmental coach for one who has proven to be great with veterans. Is there any doubt Corbin should return?

Agreed. Quin and the coaching staff have kept this team competitive. Also agree that Mitchell could be are long awaited superstar--but he's still a rookie, and he's going to have bad games. We get to watch him grow. Let's enjoy that. If he reaches his ceiling, he could be a top ten player when he hits his prime. Watch him win us some of these close games next season, and carry us to a sixty win season in his fourth year. But I don't think sitting him--especially if he was injured with his toe thing--was the worst thing ever. Got to let him grow and sometimes sitting can be part of that growth. I know a lot of reactionaries thing that it is never okay for a young talent to sit. But Quin has completely given this team over to Mitchell. I don't think anyone can seriously complain about Mitchell's development not being the franchise's focus.
