My favorite story from his rookie season was when the disgruntled failure of a vet George Hill ,after being traded away from the Cavs, claimed he offerred to teach Sexton how to be a point guard, and Sexton laughed at him.
Sure, who wouldn’t, George Hill is a recognized sleezeball! Bonus points to Sexton for recognizing that. Now he and Clarkson on the other hand have always been tight and I remember Sexton naming Clarkson as a mentor after Clarkson got traded.

Sexton already had gaudy counting stats in Cleveland. Yet there was absolutely no market for him when the Cavs dangled him in the trade market, trying to "sell high".

The problem is that he's not a winning player, and the whole league knows it by now. Here's a good overview on why advanced stats absolutely hate this dude:

As I said earlier... as long as Sexton is starting and featured heavily in the offense, we'll be losing. I'll gladly eat my crow if I have to, but I have a sneaking suspicion it won't come to that. His negative effect on the play of the guys around him goes way beyond mere stats.
Yeah I mean that Cleveland team was built to be a championship squad… sexton should have fallen backwards into a title.

Almost every young player that ends up on a rebuilding team immediately contributes to winning basketball and they never improve ever.

No you have not… I see like one sexton post from the haters talking about how KO is pissed at him… even though he did a lot of great things the past few games.

I get it that they lost the last three but 2 are against really good teams on the road. The Pistons game sucked but not sure you can pin that loss on him. Y’all are just waiting for his next ****** game (everyone has em) to say “see he sucks”. It’s fine.

He’s improving… hopefully the coaching staff is less negative than the posters here. Even if he ends up in more of the bench scorer role… if he can add the playmaking he’s shown the last few games it makes him way more effective in that role.
I did. Yall really just like to focus on w/e you can argue about.

George Hill is literally the better player right now.
That is quite possibly the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard around here. Watching Poole go to work against the Jazz the other night, it felt like a punch to the solar plexus when he turned on the jets and beat his defender to the cup! I mean as an opponent, that has to be the most psychologically debilitating thing a guy can do to you. Collin Sexton did it maybe four or five times last night including twice against Booker till they changed his assignment and once against Ayton who was actually playing off from him.

Yeah, getting to the basket has always been Sexton's main skill as a ball player. It's just not very sustainable or efficient at 6'0'', not in the modern NBA where the 3pt shot rules. He gets swatted a ton, and when it happens without a single pass in our half court offense (as it often does), it's demoralizing as ****.

You just have to look at the bigger picture with Sexton. If you get bogged down in these cool little details – a small jitterbug type dude making a layup right in a 7 footer's face – you'll forget to pay attention to the fact that he had a wide open 3pt shooter on the wing he didn't pass to, and 10 seconds later he died a screen in the other end, allowing a free layup.

Sexton is an easy guy to cheer for when he gets going. That's exactly why the Cavs chose him as their tank commander.

I give up! Go back to schilling for Trump, your kind of logic would make a lot of sense to the QAnon crowd. o_O
