Sexton now shooting 40% from three on the season. averaging 20 ppg in November.
he opened the season with a subpar 3 games and people reacted. here's the thing - a guy has a bad 3 or 4 games in the middle of the season, nobody bats an eye. a guy has a bad 3 games at the start of the season it's who he is and will be. it's not logical but it's how sports fans roll.I've never understood this thread. How exactly did we get swindled? I understand that Cy is a really emotional and dramatic dude but what exactly was he and others expecting? Was he expecting Sexton to be as good as Mitchell? I mean we got him in a trade where he wasn't even the main piece and some are expecting him to be an all-star or what? He's a solid piece not a piece that was meant to come and in dominate and change the culture.
Sure and not pointing at you here but anybody with an actual sports IQ knows that it often takes time for a) new guys to find their role b) guys coming off semi-serious injuries to get their legs back.he opened the season with a subpar 3 games and people reacted. here's the thing - a guy has a bad 3 or 4 games in the middle of the season, nobody bats an eye. a guy has a bad 3 games at the start of the season it's who he is and will be. it's not logical but it's how sports fans roll.
In the post game interview, loved that flannel shirt he was wearing, he just seemed emotionally thrilled with the win and very complimentary of Conley. Just strikes me as a super competitor that wants to win. Despite his size they even put him defensively on PG a few times down the stretch. Every competitive guy wants to start but whose to say he won't accept the Tyler Herro or Jordan Poole 6th man role if they are winning. He'll be making less than half of their money too. Maybe you don't need that guy if you are going to tank but they're apparently not doing that. He'll be closing out alot of games whether he's a starter or not. Dude can get to the FT line at will.I think with Sexton you have to either trade him (not this moment, but at the deadline) when his value is high, or try and give him the starting PG reigns. The vibes are good now and he understands the situation, but you can definitely tell he is an ambitious player who isnt going to want to spend his career as a 6th man.
One thing I've changed my mind on w/ Sexton is that I think he can part of an overall good defense. There will still be switching concerns because of his size, but he does battle hard and I think his defensive IQ is good enough to be a net neutral type defender.
The biggest question mark remains if he can actually be a PG.
If that's the route then you really need to get a plus sized lead playmaker (like a Lonzo ball type). In the post game interview, loved that flannel shirt he was wearing, he just seemed emotionally thrilled with the win and very complimentary of Conley. I noticed he plays freely when another ballhandler such as Conley is on the floor with him. Maybe you can't put him in a PG box but Sexton just seems like a player that's going to help you win games. He fits the culture here and Hardy seems to be pushing the right buttons as to when to play him. Cool beans.
Didn’t he do that after he got an And One?When Sexton and Garland were balling out for the Cavs I couldnt tell who was better, they were very close talent wise. The emotion YOUNG BULL showed last night beating his head with his fist and drooling at the same time like a madman when he made a mistake showed me he is a dog with a huge heart and fearless.
Lonzo? That’s the last guy I’d want on this team.If that's the route then you really need to get a plus sized lead playmaker (like a Lonzo ball type).
