We Got Swindled by Sexton (And Eddie Zero Sucks)

When Sexton and Garland were balling out for the Cavs I couldnt tell who was better, they were very close talent wise. The emotion YOUNG BULL showed last night beating his head with his fist and drooling at the same time like a madman when he made a mistake showed me he is a dog with a huge heart and fearless.
Didn’t he do that after he got an And One?

Lonzo? That’s the last guy I’d want on this team.

Smh
Lonzo Ball type*.

But if Lonzo Ball we're healthy he'd be 10000000% the guy I'd want next to Sexton long term.

There's also guys like Anthony Black and Tyrese Proctor in the upcoming draft who could be theoretical fits next to an undersized scorer who can't be a flow leader.

It's great when Sexton brings his mamba mentality when we lose momentum to the other team. He can really bring the team back. Outside of JC we lack that volume shooting and its great in the right spots.

What Sexton brings that we don't have outside of Sexton is rim pressure from the guard position. He's a good weapon to have against the smaller lineups, which is why he excelled with Zuvac out of the game. C

I mean Mike Conley can bring rim pressure too. What makes Sexton different is his alpha scoring mentality. At the right times, this has proven invaluable.

Sexton is Pat Bev energy with game and plenty of room to grow. I prefer to root for guys like this than Dbags like Hayward, all day and any day.

Did you catch his on court interview last night? How could you not root for him after that. He gave credit to Conley for his progress and was overjoyed that he made it past the 11 game mark this year without injury. That's one grateful dude.

I absolutely love what Conley brings to this team. Heady veteran game manager with skills. Love him.
With that said he's 35 so they probably need to look a few years down the road.

If Chicago blows it up Lonzo would 100% be a great fit. Even Caruso would be a nice addition on a much smaller scale.

I love Black's potential too and will be watching alot of his games this college season. Can you imagine bringing in a 6'-7" playmaker to mentor under Conley for a season.. I can see him potentially being a target with either the Minny or Brooklyn/Philly pick.

League is trending toward 6'8" lead playmakers and I want one on this team. In the meantime loving the fact that Lauri is beginning to bring the ball up the court. Vandy and Olynyk are getting assists in this offense too. It's just a joy to watch.

I love the way hardy is using Sexton and it's the right role for him. I think if he's starting and playing 35+ minutes he'll put up numbers, but that team won't win very much. He's in the perfect role where he can provide a spark/different attacking element but the team is not too reliant on him. He's being paid like a 6th man, so it's just fine. Don't think we should be making draft decisions around him, however.

In the post game interview, loved that flannel shirt he was wearing, he just seemed emotionally thrilled with the win and very complimentary of Conley. Just strikes me as a super competitor that wants to win. Despite his size they even put him defensively on PG a few times down the stretch. Every competitive guy wants to start but whose to say he won't accept the Tyler Herro or Jordan Poole 6th man role if they are winning. He'll be making less than half of their money too. Maybe you don't need that guy if you are going to tank but they're apparently not doing that. He'll be closing out alot of games whether he's a starter or not. Dude can get to the FT line at will.

I noticed he plays freely when another ballhandler such as Conley is on the floor with him. Maybe you can't put him in a PG box but Sexton just seems like a player that's going to help you win games. He fits the culture here and Hardy seems to be pushing the right buttons as to when to play him. Cool beans.
Dude is extremely likeable.

Like most guys on this team right now to be honest.

Basically this and if he grows the playmaking side of his game then awesome he can have a different, bigger role.

Conley puts pressure at the rim with his driving pull up floater, more like a Tre Young. Sexton puts pressure at the rim more like Ja Morant, but by all means what do you think rim pressure means.
Can you score buckets at the rim. Not within 10 feet. At the rim/restricted. Layups/Dunks. Conley takes 2 shots per game within 5 feet and he makes 50% of them. That's not rim pressure, that's really bad (that just isnt his game, it's not shade. He has no way of being good at that given he is short and old af.

Sexton takes 4.5 per game and makes 58%, which isnt great, but it's good.

Elite guards like Mitchell/SGA/Ja/Dame are taking 6+ per game and making over 60%

Rim pressure and scoring at the rim aren't necessarily the same thing. C'mon, you're better than this.

Conley causes a certain amount chaos on the defense when driving the paint with his floater and playmaking. When it opens up the defense under the basket, it's absolutely rim pressure.

ya rim pressure can even be conley getting in the paint and feeding Lauri for a dunk. That would be rim pressure that happened because of conley.
