What's new

We HAVE to make a trade.

Cavs are willing to take on bad salary for assets. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25384727/lebron-james-takes-control-lakers
Hill and Korver join JR Smith on the trade block.

If the Cavs are willing to take bad contracts, I wonder if we can use them as our 3rd team in a bigger deal. We already have a working relationship with the Cavs FO after the Crowder/Hood deal.

The Jazz don’t have assets or terrible contracts (only ill-advised, unnecessary ones), though.

The Jazz are also more likely in a similar niche on the trade market. They don’t have assets for buying, but have cap space to sell.

That’s why you don’t ****ing re-sign Favors. Or if you do, tell him he’s signing on to be the pure backup 5 (since he was in no position to ask nor actually sign for the money he got).
I agree 100%. We should have signed Bjelica and let Favors walk. We would have saved $10 million to use on absorbing contracts. Better yet, we should have also let Thabo walk. Thats $15+ million right there. I'm okay with Udoh because an expiring $3.36 for an emergency center isnt that bad.

We can't cry over spilled milk though. We gotta learn from it.

Get aggressive DL. Yes, Porter is overpaid, but he makes what you paid to Favors and Thabo this year. And Porter is better than both. If you are gonna waste cap money, waste it on a better product.

Ricky Rubio for John Wall. John Wall is a better version of Rubio. Wall, Mitchell, and Gobert could be a Big 3 for the future. Utah would have to include 2 Pick’s probably, but Washington gets out of Walls deal and gets Rubio’s expiring.

You'd have to add a lot more to get Wall just to match the salary

I don't like Wall enough to take on his $40+ the 4 years after this one. Miami has interest in Wall: https://heatnation.com/rumors/report-miami-heat-could-be-potential-suitor-john-wall/ Use Miami to take Wall and we get an upgrade at PG with Dragic.

Jazz get Dragic and Olynyk
Heat get Wall and Jason Smith
Wiz get Rubio, Burks, draft considerations from Miami and minor draft considerations from us

Miami gets Wall AND gets out of the luxury this year. Washington sheds Wall for expirings while also being able to stay pretty decent with the addition of Rubio and Burks.

I'd love to know what other offers Favs had...maybe like a one year deal in NOLA or LA? The money wouldn't have been as good is my guess. I thought this was the deal, but based on what insiders have said it was quite the opposite... he re-signed in part because we told him we were committed to making the Rudy Favs pairing work.

I think people already know this... but I'd do a Ricky for Hill swap right now... I think they would too. They want some vets to help their guys but would save $5M in the swap... they are also tanking so having a good player like Hill on the court is not ideal.

John wall's contract is one of the worst in the league for an allstar. Reports out of Washington were that he came back out of shape this year. There are red flags about him that would make it a serious gamble

My biggest issue with the Favors signing was that our front office was at his house right when free agency opened. We prioritized Favors like he was the key to our success. I understand we all love the guy, but it doesn't take that much common sense to realize he isn't the perfect fit next to Gobert.

We didn't test the waters with other free agents. We didn't meet with Bjelica's people or Randle's people or anybody else. We honestly didn't even know what the market was because we threw so much money at Favors so quickly.

Plz tell I about wut post mean cause my englesh too bad

Apparently, so are your internet skills if you couldn't follow the quote links.

Hint: there is a difference between "free agent" and "rookie free agent".
