We need to trade Hayward now

Mission Accomplished

Long time no see. We need to move Hayward ASAP hear me out. We just negotiated with him and he didn't take our offer. We have young players like Burks, Kanter, and Burke maybe even Gobert that are. all going to need deal. By giving Hayward the ball in all of our crucial possessions we are. repeating the errors of last year. This will force us to match and over pay for a player that is solid but not a game changer. The potential game changers at the 3 are in the draft.

....and I was accused of throwing TB under the bus because I suggested he come off the bench behind Burks. You guys are crazy fickle.

I think it is doesn't make any sense some team is going to over pay for him. Why make him the man if he is going to be wearing another jersey. I say we give Burk or Burke when he come back these opportunities.

He almost had a triple double tonight. Calm down. Sheesh.

I can just imagine how quickly some people will give up on Wiggins after we draft him.

Yes, but he can't make a crazy acrobatic layup so he obviously sucks. Sometimes I wonder if there is anyone else out there who likes Hayward and Burks playing together, or am I the only one? Hayward is a dead eye shooter, better defender, and playmaker. Burks makes crazy layups. Good combo!

Trading Hayward now is crazy talk. However, at the trade deadline when the Jazz have a better picture of who will be in the lottery it is not completely crazy. If you could get a lottery pick for Hayward in a stacked draft the Jazz may consider it. If the Jazz could get a guaranteed top five pick in this draft for Hayward its a no brainer. I don't think any team that sucks and has a real chance at a top 3 pick in this coming draft would trade it for anyone on the Jazz team. However in a normal draft year (one without so many potential stars) it would never be considered.

I like Burks and Hayward playing together because right now they are the best SG/SF we have. I thought Gordy played his butt off last night. He did disappear in the second half until he hit the big three. I want to keep Gordy but I don't think he is a number one option. Perhaps he could become that but I think he is more of a second or third option. He does better when a PG dishes him the ball and he shoots the rock. His mid-range game still is below average. It is better than it was when he came in the league but he still has a ways to go.

Burks needs to improve his outside shot, FTs and his inclination to throw the ball away. However, Burks has made huge strides in most of his game. Unfortunately the reality is teams will not be able to keep all their players. When a player demands more than he is worth, tough choices need to be made. At this point, I don't think Hayward is worth $12m and even $10m is pushing it. Part of my thinking is that in the 2014 draft we could draft his replacement.

Look at OKC, they were unable to keep Jeff Green and James Harden because both players wanted to be paid too much. Jeff Green is a solid player who is a lot like Hayward. He does a lot of nice things but he isn't a number one option. Harden wasn't willing to take less and because OKC brought in Perkins and then sign Ibaka to too much money they couldn't afford Harden. Hopefully the Jazz have learned from this and don't overpay or bring in an overprice vet so they can't keep their own players. Even with smart financial decisions the Jazz are not going to keep all their Core unless players are willing to take less which isn't going to happen.

The problem with drafting well is that you start to become a training camp for other teams. Just think after this season the Jazz will have the Core4 (assuming Hayward signs with us) plus Burke, Gobert, and one high and one mid first round draft picks. As exciting as that is, there is no way the Jazz can keep all these guys. So in reality the Jazz will be punished for drafting well. I just hope the Jazz don't over pay for a player and it ends up costing us two or three promising players.

Arguing with yourself?

If Hayward had signed his extension I would have been adamantly against trading him. I'm extremely disappointed in his decision and would be okay with a trade now. (That's not the same as agreeing with KOC Begone, btw.)

I love Burks and Hayward playing together. But I thought I'd clarify just a bit. In addition to making crazy layups, he gets to the FT line a ton(this gets guys in foul trouble and helps the team get into the penalty), can handle the ball, can hit jump shots, create his own shot, can pass, rebound and defend. The Jazz are lucky to have two young wings who are well rounded players and are unselfish.

Great post.

I am also one who loves to see hayward and burks on court together.

For me, the best part of both of the first 2 games has been when the core 4 have been on court at the same time.
This was also my favorite part of most games for the last 2 years.

I'm surprised more people don't feel the same

A few points:

1. I really noticed the bulk Hayward added up top. Gives me hope that he can become more of a difference maker defensively and perhaps finish stronger through contact. He did a poor job fighting through screens early last night, and hasn't yet shown halfcourt finishing ability, but it's definitely worth waiting more than 2 games to decide he isn't going to improve in these two areas.

2. The last 3 notwithstanding, his pull-up J is ugly. The new NBA.com stats haven't updated through last night's game, but he only hit the one and probably shot 5+. He was 0-7 on pull-up jumpers in game 1. He passes well off the bounce, but he's going to have to figure out some way to score off the bounce (finding a floater, finishing better through contact, whatever) or he'll only really be suited for an off-ball role in the halfcourt.

3. Still a beast in transition.

4. Clearly pressing a little. He'll settle down as the season progresses and once Burke comes back and takes a little pressure off him.

I'd rather push up Burks value and trade him.

He looked like the dumbest player in the NBA last night. Bad rotations, missed freethrows because he's always gassed, throws the ball to who the hell knows where, doesn't set good pics, stagnates the offense... Burks has all the physical tools but the brain of a squirrel.

At least we know this is an unbiased opinion

Funny how corbin thought burks was smart enough to be able to learn a new position (point guard)..... which happens to be the position where you need to be cerebral the most.

If burks is so dumb then corbin should have had hayward be the one learning the point and just kept burks at the 2 guard last year when mo went down.
