There are valid points to both of these arguments. Gobert, while he is getting better, is not an offensive threat at this time. When he is in the game with Favors (not his fault alone) the offense often (not always) stagnates. Favors has been more aggressive over the past couple of games, but I don't know if he has the drive/personality to keep it up. Hopefully he does. Kanter is a better one on one creator compared to Favors. Favors should play when we have scorers that can create, like Hayward on the floor. When we have our scrub backcourt in with Gobert and Favors up front, we get in trouble. That is when Kanter could be a very valuable tool to this team. If we can shore up the defense of our back court and get healthy, a front court rotation of Kanter/Favors/Gobert will be very good. Neither Favors or Kanter are good defenders, but they appear worse than they are due to the horrible back court D.
The biggest issue I see is the adjustments that need to be made with defensive spacing. When Gobert is in the game, we don't need near as much weakside help from our wings, so there is no reason to give up as many weakside open 3s. The players need to make a mental adjustment when Gobert is in the game.
