We should take Kanter with the 6

There are concerns out there about Kanter's bum knee.
It has been hurt off and on for a while.
I don't want to draft a Greg Oden, who barely plays for us and is injured.

Ok didn't know that - do you have any source that you could put here for us to peruse?

the knee stuff won't be silenced until GMs get to look at him in workouts. KOC saw Kanter in a workout a few weeks ago. But it's not like he's gonna show his hand, which is good because if his knee truly is a problem I want some other idiot grabbing him before the Jazz.

I'll reiterate again the historical 6th picks:

2010 Ekpe Udoh
2009 Jonny Flynn
2008 Danilo Gallinari
2007 Yi Jianlian
2006 Brandon Roy
2005 Martell Webster
2004 Josh Childress
2003 Chris Kaman
2002 Dajuan Wagner
2001 Shane Battier
2000 DerMarr Johnson
1999 Wally Szczerbiak
1998 Robert Traylor
1997 Ron Mercer
1996 Antoine Walker
1995 Bryant Reeves

I'd say the only real winners were Kaman and Roy (who fell to 6th due to injury concerns which did eventually came true right as we speak).

So if Kanter is even remotely as good as he has proven to be so far (offensively), he'll be a steal for us as the 6th pick. IMHO.

Gallo is pretty good and Wally was an all-star.

I think that Udoh has shown potential, Gallenari will be a steal, Battier has been a star in Memphis, Walker was an Allstar. With the verdict sill out on Childress, flynn, and Yi. I don't want Utah to take a big unless the Jazz move Millsap to the 3 or trade him, Favors, or big AL.

What Millsaps and Jefferson our like 25 or 26?

And I thnk Fez could be a perfect cheap insurance policy. Draft a wing and a Pg and focus on the bigs with next years G.S. pick.

Kanter has utterly destroyed any competition he has faced so far. Lets give the guy a chance rather than making asinine assumptions like most of you did with Hayward.

You won't know if he can destroy the competition in the NBA until the lockout is over since he has been avoiding any competition leading to the draft. Too bad the stupid NCAA ruled him ineligible.

It makes sense, becuz, Kanter is the only superstar potential guy who can eventually drop to 6. We dont expect that from Barnes or Irving.

I remind everyone, Kanter is just 18. And he stupidly chose ncaa despite of knowing he isnt gonna play. Thats why he had problem with his club Fenerbahce. He was playing in Euroleague (its the nba of Europe) when he was 16. If he continued to play in europe, im sure he would have been picked at the first 3.
So everyone who thinks Ricky Rubio will be a star player thinks the same for Kanter. Only difference is Kanter rushed himself early to nba dream while rubio wanted to play in europe more (mabe minnesota pick affected his decision)
So in his first year, i believe he will have problems, but he is obviously the best international in his generation.
And if someone is gonna be a super star from this draft, its Irving, Barnes and Kanter but noone else.

(p.s. He currently holds the nike summit hoops point record by intl side, and only one who get closed to him was Nowitzki with 31 points if im correct)

See this is where I have a problem with drafting Kanter. While he looks solid we already have 3 big men who are very good. You never draft a guy at 3-6 who will be a back up for years. He may be the BPA though. Many will disagree with me but if Perry Jones is there, I say take him. His potential is insane for a SF. If he lives up to it, hayward and Jones on the wings would be incredible. If Jones isn't there, then I'd go with Kanter maybe. I really like Jordan Hamilton for the 12th pick

I am all on board with Perry Jones, but I seriously doubt he'd fall to us. But i love the idea of him playing the 3, hayward the 2, and the frontcourt of favors/jefferson/millsap. With Jimmer coming off the bench. (j/k) (kind of)

No offense, but couldn't disagree more. The most certain way to draft a bust is to ignore BPA and draft for need. If Utah already has 3 decent frontcourt players, that shouldn't stop them from drafting a 4th in Kanter as long as he is BPA at that point. You always draft the BPA and figure out where to put them later. That way, you fill your team with talent and attractive trade pieces if you find yourself logjammed at certain positions.
