What's new

We signed Emmanuel Mudiay

Mudiay???

Folks, we had Mudiay for two seasons. I'm no psychologist, but that guy definitely suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder --- split personality. One night he will be Russell Westbrook...then next night he's a guy who looks like he never ever played basketball. (Unfortunately most nights for us he looked like a person who never ever played basketball.)

Clueless Mudiay looking for home plate:

kind of like Melo the last few years of his career then?

Seems like when he has a big game he gets hot from midrange. He likes getting in the paint and taking that 8-12 foot fadeaway. His shot kinda reminds me of Eric Paschall's; they both elevate really high and because of that it looks a bit hitchy and like they're shooting on the way down.

A point always missed by exum’s fanboys. Whatever positives he brings on defense are quickly outweighed by his atrocious offense. He’s good for essentially 3 turnovers a game. One, where he just loses control of the ball in traffic. another for one of his out of control drives where he runs 100 mph and puts a dent in the backboard by chucking the ball at it. And finally another by being left wide open to a corner 3 and stepping out of bounds.

Exum’s stepping out of bounds on shooting a corner 3 was as predictable as a Grayson travel, crowder hard foul, jingles trolling job on another player, and Boler screwing up a skip pass call.

Or an Exum blown layup, harpring says hi

Count 15 players in and out combined!! That’s a big and busy offseason.
Only the biggest subtraction...Rubio!

I don't ever remember a year when the Jazz replaced over 50% of their roster. Maybe in the early years after moving from New Orleans? And that's not even counting 2-ways; neither Cavanaugh nor Naz will be back.

I don't expect much from him, but this feels like a good shot to take on a young player with pedigree that might be ready to take a step forward. Cy said earlier that he likes the signing because of his athleticism... but the thing is... he used to look athletic pre-draft... in the league he doesn't really play athletic... he looks more like the strong and sturdy type than bouncy and super quick.

Man Exum is really hated around these parts now.
Do people just resent him cause of his contract, bustability (increasing in likelihood) and injuries etc?
Cause the kid seems like about as down to earth, humble and hardworking as you can get and every second fan on hear ****s all over him at every opportunity.

I really believe there are some on here that really would be shattered if he proved to be an effective role player or better.

To be fair, this has less to do with Zanik and more with Dennis' plan. Lindsey is still in charge and he always pointed towards - and made moves - to ensure Utah could be a player in free agency this season. He had Udoh and Thabo come off the books, and arranged the contracts of Favors and apparently Neto to be 1+1's. And Ricky as an expiring, too. I have to admit I doubted him. And to be honest, Jazz could have (and should have) had a couple of these one-year deals last year.

But Lindsey and Zanik are killing it this off-season. Davis and Mudiay could be absolute STUDS for us. And I guess there really IS truth to the narrative about Utah's development staff as that was a reason stated by Mudiay's agent for him choosing Utah. Isn't it great to see attitudes changing about the great city of Utah? Derek Harper must be turning over in his grave right about now

This is all about the plan that Dennis put in place and Dennis is still in charge. Sorting out the timing of when and how was never an exact science but is far from something that happened this year.
