Man Exum is really hated around these parts now.
Do people just resent him cause of his contract, bustability (increasing in likelihood) and injuries etc?
Cause the kid seems like about as down to earth, humble and hardworking as you can get and every second fan on hear ****s all over him at every opportunity.

I really believe there are some on here that really would be shattered if he proved to be an effective role player or better.

I don't get it either. It's like people enjoy ******** on him and mostly for things he has zero control over. Oh well... there always has to be a scape goat. I guess it's his turn this time around.

It's also cute how people think Mudiay is better than Exum... Exum with half of his tendons, knee ligaments torn and shoulders broken is better than anything Mudiay has ever shown in the NBA.

But he improved a bit from that. And we aren't asking him to start, simply to run 3rd/2nd PG duties. Utah's sudden influx of shooting opens lanes for him and he'll have some scoring around him in Ingles, Niang, and Royce chilling on the perimeter and a slasher in Exum. He specifically signed here to do the work and Utah is showing faith in him. In this program, he'll be learning from Conley, Mitchell, and our coaches while having the pressure of starting removed.

I look at it like this. Mudiay is a good improvement over Neto. If he gets his game right, Utah has a success story to trumpet to other FAs to say "Look at what we did!" If he doesn't, that's on him and we're out nothing. If he succeeds and likes it, Utah has a guard they can use and continue to finesse into a guy that can maybe replace Conley when the time comes. If he succeeds and doesn't want to stay or gets that big money offer, there's no hard feelings and we wish the dude well. If he flat sucks, we still have Exum and Mitchell to spell Conley as necessary. I see no downsides here.

Dude don’t get me wrong, I agree. I’m actually looking forward to seeing what he’s like and whether he improves. Denver got a bunch better without him tho

I guess it all depends on how serious you take this stuff. A lot was invested in Exum. When you whiff on a #5 pick it has reverberating effects. Do it too many times and you become the Sacramento Kings.

Mudiay was pretty damn good last year. Let’s have some objectivity here. Exum hasn’t done anything close to what Mudiay did last year, and he’s going to have to earn what Exum has now, and at the same time, there’s a good chance Exum ends up on IR at some point because that’s been his home every year since his rookie year. Just like Mudiay has to work his way into a rotation, Exum needs to prove he can stay on the court. Fact is Exum has never been as relevant to his team as Mudiay was to his team last year or any year for that matter.

We don't know the real opinion of the FO. The Jazz considered Favors a part of the plan and wanted to bring him back....until they found a better option!
The same will hold true for Exum, especially now that the Jazz are a little cash strapped. If Mudiay is better than Exum at 2 million a year, why wouldn't you look to scuttle a player making 12m a year?

Some people actually blame him for getting hurt. Jazz nation always find a whipping boy and they have chosen Exum. Personally, I don't get all the vile comments. The kid has had very bad luck. He is a good teammate and person from everything I have heard. I hope he does well just to shut up the haters. Exum has been a disappoint for being the 5th pick. Look at the draft pretty much everyone slotted around him has been a disappoint except Emblid and he was hurt too. I have lowered my expectations but I hope he succeeds simply because he continues to work his butt off to get on the court. No complaining just rehabbing which sucks if any of you have ever had to do it. He has had to do it 3 times. I bet Exum is way more frustrated with himself. So we don't need to pile on.
