What's new

Welcome Back Gordon Hayward

I would be happy too if I made 16 million after shooting .413 2pts and .304 3pts, I guess X-mas came early. I hope Gordon earns his money but I am not overly excited about the contract I will wish him well. I hope he can find his shot again.

If the Jazz are happy with the contract, then I have no room to bitch. I will never complain about his pay unless it costs us quality players (like Matthews) or it influences the coach's play calling. I remember when Sloan implemented plays for AK just to give him touches and make him happy, but even Sloan abandoned it after a few weeks because giving AK touches meant the same as giving the other team more possessions.

I'm happy Hayward is here for another few years, contract details be damned. He's a good dude, solid work ethic, plays through nags, that sort of stuff.

There is always this possibility of us killing him if he doesn't live up to the sheet. What happens when a player die? What happens to the cap space?

Edit: I forgot how sensitive mods can get in here so here it is:

This post is not posted in a literally manner.

"I think the commitment shows how much the Jazz believe in me, and what they think I mean to their franchise. That’s a really good feeling for me, knowing that they stand behind me. To be able to play there at least another three or four years and be one of their centerpieces is something I’m looking forward to."

Anyone concerned about this comment? I'd expect somewhere in the blog for him to say he wants to play a long time in Utah, help win a championship, etc. He doesn't. Jazz need to Kevin Love him in 2 years.

what's done is done. like it or not hayward will play for the jazz next year. so... let's hope he plays well

If by "Kevin Love him" you mean trade him for Wiggins, then I'm down.

Why does this guy always speak as if he's detached from the organization? "They", "There"... I don't like to buy too much into this stuff but the way he talks makes him sound like [size] HUGE [fixed]'s signature.

I was all against offering that ridiculous amount of money for a kid who hasn't yet proven that he's worth it. Now that he's back, I'm in stand-by mode, just waiting to see if he delivers. If he doesn't we may have some problems trying to get back his money's worth... that or swallow his whole contract. I'm trying to stay positive about it, we'll see...

It's almost like "Boozer speak." Carlos never really mentioned being part of a team, just that he wanted to "have fun."
That's why I'm somewhat alarmed. Of course, he was also MISERABLE last season. So maybe his attitude changes once the team is playing up-tempo, the offense is flowing and the Jazz are winning a few more games.
