We know we are on the right track when Tremendous Upside is disappointed. This season should be all about player development and figuring out what guys can be longer term pieces. We will also keep our draft pick and have our choice of a lot of quality prospects in the top 10.

Lol. Not that many teams can be better by definition. Teams that get better and leapfrog others automatically means the ones they leapfrog are relatively worse. And Detroit worse than last season. Li

Weird take

If Lauri is truly a top 20 player and everyone else has improved in their role (which everyone has the potential to), we should be a better team. I dont think the West is all that good. It's a conference deep with talent, but outside of Denver/Phoenix there arent many absolutely loaded teams who the Jazz cant beat on any given day.

Sure, teams like the Clippers/Warriors are pretty loaded, but they are also older and will struggle in the regular season w/ health against more youthful teams like Utah. The best win differential in the West was only +3.9 last year. Utah had a -0.9 differential despite trying to tank after the Mike Conley trade.

I really want to watch Hardy coaching playoff basketball.
It just won't happen with this roster unless one or two of the rooks have a sci-fi season.
Dont think anything is on the rooks.

It's on THT/Sexton/Ochai/Walker/Dunn/Collins. These are the vets/older rookies who should be stepping up and playing well now that they will have a bigger role.

We basically know what we are going to get out of Clarkson/Lauri/KO. They should all have great seasons.

Yep. The same coach that led to constant playoff collapses.
It had more to do with the players not stepping up and the FO having some misses more than it had anything to do with Quin. He was our best single piece we had.

A lot of our players will have somtehing to prove and play for this year. Then we have Clarkson who can just ball our and enjoyr himself and the rookies who needs to prove that they belong.

Being deep is an important factor in the regular season. As long as our main guys stay healthy, I think we will be in the mix for a play in spot the whole way. It also looks like the FO want to give up the owed pick to OKC this year, which means they will not tank.
  • Markkanen has to show that he is worth a renegotiation and extension after the season
  • Kessler needs to show tha this first year was not a fluke and that he is a legit NBA starting center
  • Ochai needs to show that he deserves to a our starting two guard
  • Sexton needs to show that he is as good as he thinks he is
  • THT is playing for a new contract
  • Collins has to reinvent himself if he wants another deal after this one
  • Dunn is playing for his career
