What's new

Welcome to Election Day 2024,

Stolen quote, but nail on the head.

I think to the average voter the identity politics being front and center is just a huge turn off.

I think think its become the go to for progressive parties cause its something they can be seen to be doing. The bigger structural issue, the entrenched privilege and power of corporations, all these things are just too hard. Plus they're in the pocket of these same companies. So they go for the easy surface crap.

Leave the Far-left out of it sir. We didn't do this. The Democrats are a center-right party, Republican-lite. It's a big part of why they lose.
So the "Democratic Center-Right, Republican-lite" portion of the Democratic party was responsible for the messaging that focused on vilifying their political opponent, instead of focusing on how she was going to make the country a better place to live?

Not sure I buy that, but maybe you're right.

Buy it. It's true.

I'm hoping the takeaway is that vilifying your political opponent can't be the core of your message.

Wait, you don't think that trump vilifies his opponent? Lolololololololmao.
That is the funniest comment I have ever seen.
He started calling his opponents wife ugly way back in 2016 (his Republican primary opponent)
Lock her up?
Been calling Kamala every name in the book. Scum, garbage etc. ever heard his enemy within quote? Sleepy Joe, comrade Kamala, crazy Bernie, little Marco, crooked Hilary, Ron DeSanctimonious, Ditzy Davos, Birdbrain (Nikki Haley), Gavin newscum, crazy Nancy, tampon tim, pocahantas. To name a few.

trump vilifying his opposition is kinda his thing. Only people he doesn't vilify are the leaders of our enemies.

He might've done that, but like they don't care, that's how bad it is over there. These people have family over there who are either dead or dying. In their eyes, there was no meaningful difference between a democrat and republican victory.

Exactly. They are about to find out the difference. That's my whole point silly

Its interesting what people take away from events

Some of those were bangers tho tbh lol

Such an odd thing to say lol. Prices on everything have been horrendous during the Biden administration. He can’t do any worse.
Agreed. I was saying that the president doesn't determine prices so voting for trump because you think he will determine the cost of things is a dumb reason.

I mean all the celebs who endorsed Kamala have definitely been to some Diddy parties.
Do you have a point?

That really isn't the message because that was literally Trump's ENTIRE platform. That is all he did. Every time he got in front of the podium he vilified everyone, his opponents, immigrants, women, POC, you name it. He ran exclusively on a platform of fear and hatred and fed that fire every chance he got.
If you think that his platform was to intentionally vilify immigrants, women, POC, etc., you've lost the plot entirely since he appears to have performed much better with those demographics than republicans have in the past.

I'm a 3rd party voter living in a swing state, and I can tell you that literally every commercial for Kamala I saw, at least in part, was vilifying Trump. I would estimate that 50-70% of Trump adds were in part just attacks on Kamala or the Democrats.

Four years from now Dems are going to need a new playbook.

He will have the house and senate and hopefully follows through with his no tax for tips or overtime that will put more money in working class citizens pockets which allows them to buy stuff.
You know what having more money and buying more stuff does? Increases demand and decreases supply. Do you know what that does?

I work tons of overtime (60 hours this week) so it would be cool to not be taxed on it for me personally. On the other hand I like cops, firefighters, schools etc to have budgets to do their jobs and I enjoy parks and campgrounds and stuff and lowering taxes takes away money from those things so that part will suck.

Democrats would rather win on neoliberal, austerity-driven terms (i.e. change nothing about the material conditions for working class Americans) than win in general.
Easy to win an American election as a Democrat -- however it involves supporting popular policies like Medicare 4 All, subsidized housing/education, increasing minimum wage, anti-trust measures to collapse price-gouging/inflation.

Unfortunately, these policies are at odds with the right wing Democratic Party, who enjoys the current status quo. As a consequence, they tried to placate Republican elites who will never vote for them, instead of undecided voters who have voted for them in droves in the past.

The logical conclusion. A morally bankrupt party squandering a generational opportunity. The Democrats are rotten to the core and cannot be fixed. Hopefully a Labor Party emerges and replaces them.

Most Labor parties have grown out of and are supported by trade unions, what's union density in the US? 7 or 8 percent?

Thanks George, a man after my own heart.

It ain't great. Mobilizing workers always worth a shot tho. Working Americans are more pro-worker than they let on.

Also I listed about 15? I could list about 60.
You have to admit that trumps thing is vilifying people. And windmills, batteries, magnets, showers, the media etc etc etc. He loves vilifying things. He has so many grievances. He would go all night at a festivus celebration for the airing of grievances.
