What's new

What am I missing with Collin Sexton? Why is he so undervalued?

I think there are many instances of numbers being inflated due to players being on the court with Gobert. Conley also missed a bunch of games due to injury and didn't play in back to back games etc. I think there are other factors that can be at play here- I don't see that as something that can be automatically pointed to as evidence he was a great floor general. He did come up clutch at times, but he also seemed to fumble the ball away in critical situation just as often.
This is 100% the case.

Part of me feels bad that Conley is likely to remain here due to his salary and be a consummate professional knowing that he's not on a contender, but I do think he has some worth as a locker room presence. Maybe he even gets to increase his trade value a bit this season and we can offload him before the deadline, who knows.
I actually still think there’s a fair chance that Conley gets dealt before the season starts. I think some team is going to realize that the Jazz are probably willing to sell low on him and will offer a player with positive value if the Jazz will take back some salary that is less than great.

This was exactly why I wanted to be free of Mitchell. I am not a fan of a guy who will choose to slack off on some aspect of the job that, you know, PAYS HIM ****ING MILLIONS TO PLAY A GAME WITH A BALL, just because he is pouty. Give me someone who plays hard regardless any day of the week. This is the one trait that Mitchell needs to fix or he will go nowhere. He will get mad at another situation for whatever reason, be highly passive-aggressive about it, stop playing D or passing or something, so he can get traded where he wants to be. That isn't a winning player, so no need to hang on any longer.

Mitchell became a bitch. Good riddance.

My goodness, you all talking yourselves into one of the worst defensive players in the league and someone who has never contributed to winning in the NBA by almost any measure. Someone who has all of DM's warts, but worse in almost every way.

Sure he has talent, but the prospect of him developing into a positive player for a team (other than creating some offense for a bad team) is pretty far away, in my view.

Is he worth a shot? Maybe, in our situation, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I mean, I admire his tenacity and competitiveness. But if you're still essentially at the very bottom of the league as a defender, what is this competitiveness getting you? A willingness to force shots?

Are we still talking about Mitchell? He’s gone… let it go.

Ball hog, no defense, no vision, just fast and relentless, doesn't have a variety of moves to beat his man. He is really just a young bull

Reputation for having tunnel vision, ball dominant, doesn’t make his teammates better. Hoping we can rehabilitate his image, get him to play some defense and flip him down the road for something desirable.
Damn if only we had a Collin Sexton in the 90s, or 2000s.

Seems like any talent we get, the fans want to trade him.

Jazzfanz needs to realize that blue collar players that play like it's the 1970s, and make the perfect play everytime on the floor just isn't going to happen. The NBA isn't Burger King.

But one thing for sure, most NBA fans are marks that are too needy. We just picked up a 23 year old 20 ppg scorer, and people want to trade him and he hasn't played a minute in Utah.
