What do you think of Kasparas Jakucionis?

His history

he has a good ft% (including in Europe). He got a forearm injury and his outside shooting really took a dip. Seems to have good mechanics so I believe in him as a shooter.

For me the question is if he is going to play defense like Luka and Austin Reaves.
No one plays defense as bad as luka

Givony said that this is starting to shape up as an 8 player draft. Kas was not on that list of 8 players. If we were to trade up from 21, he would be my target. He's a guy that can scale down and likely be an efficient role player, or he could maintain what he's did in college and be more of a lead ball handler.

I am not a big draft analyst but I like Kasparas Jakucionis more than anyone being projected at #5 and want to know what others think.

I think he has a good aggression, playmaking, and shooting skills. I think he is going to be much better in the NBA game with spaced floors and foul calls. I think he is will be a star and is the type of player you can win championships with because he will make others better.

I would probably have him #3 on my board. Thoughts? Where would you take him?
I’m glad to see this thread here. I’m with you. Of the players available at #3-5, I also believe that Kasparas has the best overall tools and physicality to become a great player.

I think Kasparas's ceiling is pretty damn high. He might end up with the ability to pass people open. Elite passing prospect.

Earlier in the season, I had him at #3 on my board. But I see the argument for dropping him down to 7 or 8. The people who have him all the way down at 11 or so have lost their minds, IMO.

So I actually think incorporating some of the consensus opinion is a good way to build a board, but this year I’m gonna do my best to remove myself from the group think and come up with a board with as little outside influence as possible.

I’ve seen enough of Tre, Ace, VJ, Fears, and Kon. Kas will be #3 on my board.

I prefer Kon if we are taking mediocre athlete/high IQ player. Trust Kon more as a shooter and defender and dont believe in Kasparas as a primary creator or scorer.

I wouldn't disagree with the first part. I think Kon is a better shooter and defender. Kon's base outcome where he doesn't scale up is better than Kas if he scales down. But I believe in Kas's upside way more than I believe in Kon's ability to scale up.

Kas was as two faced as any player and its left me completely confused. He was awesome early and awful late. There was an injury. It wouldn't surprise me if he lands in the 10-14 range and is the obvious gem (with hindsight) and some team got a steal.

We can't know how much the injury really affected him...but he really did have two different seasons and it would be a huge coincidence if it just played out that way randomly before and after the injury. I don't believe he really is a 40%+ 3 point shooter off on strictly pullups and stepbacks like was though.

Somewhat related, I found kind of funny/interesting that Kas is 1% in spot up frequency. Seems impossible for a guard to be that way, but it does speak to the fact that a huge portion of his offense was self created. His high efficiency/self creation combo is only rivaled by Harper in this class.

Like I would feel better about him than Fears... wouldn't surprise me if either guy all of a sudden pops in the right situation and I'm sad.
