Slap away sir, I want a win and will always cheer for one.

As my dad always said "Tanking is for *******."

Glad we have so many fair weather fans

Next years draft will be deep as well. This team does not need another draft pick I think we will trade it anyways if we get one this year.

I also find it funny how many on here are freaking out and crying about GS tanking but want our team to do it. You cant have it both ways. Although Tanking on purpose has worked out well for GS...

What bluenote said (right up there ^^^) and, no, next years draft will not be 1/3 as deep.

Well, if it is important for the Jazz to lose this game then I guess I should go to Vegas and bet heavily on a win. The Jazz always seem to do the opposite of what is beneficial for the team (see Phoenix game at end of season a couple of years ago, they needed to come out and play great, instead they come out and lay an egg (thanks boozer you moran)).

I can respect you wanting the playoffs. Good enough.

The fact that some have a different view on what would be better for the team in no way makes them "fair weather fans". So you can knock that crap off right now.

Why can't we have it both ways? We are normal people and as I am sure you know by now the human race has become adept at being hypocritical.

I had to reread that as well. I think spycam1 was implying that if the Jazz lose to GS on Friday, it may cost them the playoffs (or contribute to them missing), but it will also help them get the GS pick (perhaps #8). Another fringe benefit would be the Jazz keeping their own pick, which would likely be #13-#14.

If there's a reason to tank one single game, this is the game. Not saying they should, just that they would get a lot of mileage out of their own loss coupled with the Warriors' 22nd win.

I also had re-read it and I agree that's probably what he meant but I'm a jerk and clicked post anyway because I want the Jazz to win, cause, well I always want them to win and I don't want to be grumpy all weekend.

So "fair weather" fans are ones that are fine watching their team and caring about their team, even if they are losing, knowing in the long run it will actually benefit the team and give them an even better chance to compete at the upper echelons and not just continually compete for the 6-8 spots in their division? Weird, I thought it meant something else. Noted.

I know this wasn't addressed to me but I'm of the sort that wants the Jazz to win and try to win no matter what and that if they lose eventually I'll console myself with the 13-14th pick for the future.

I'm already starting to talk myself into well even this regular season experience and pressure of being in a playoff hunt is good for them (as opposed to actually making the playoffs).

I was all in for the playoffs a week and a half ago when we were on fire. I thought if we continued to play relatively high level ball, we had a chance at 1st round upset and gain a lot of confidence/experience. The way we are playing now would only lead to a 1st round exit.

Dont get me wrong, to me, ideally, the Jazz would make the playoffs in the 5-7 range and get the GS pick. I honestly think that would be best for the team on all accounts, in that the team could use the playoff experience and create a culture of winning with the young core and add, likely, an impact player in an extremely deep draft. That's ideal, IMO.

Limping (what the team in doing now) into the 8th spot, playing the way the team is currently, and as a result likely getting swept AND also losing both pics in, again, an extremely deep draft is worst case scenario, IMO. If we get the 8th it'll be by the skin of our teeth and not at all a statement to the league that we've "made it". To me its 6's at that point as to whether fighting for the playoffs has as much value as actually making it in the 8th spot and getting swept. Possibly missing out by a game or so will create a fire in the offseason and really motivate the team overall knowing they were "that close".

Add to that either two new players or PIECES (we dont have to pick 2 guys if we have both picks........picks in this draft have a lot of value and will package well with our other assets) along with that aforementioned hunger and I think the fruits of that labor will be seen in 2013-14 when we will likely have one of the very best young cores in the NBA. I'll take that over no picks and the 8th seed any day of the week. But what do I know, I'm a fair weather fan.........

You guys seen the new NBA "BIG" Ad campaign?

NBABIG.jpg

The NBA: Where "losing is encouraged and cheered for by fan bases because the way the draft is set up, teams are encouraged to lose and tank games so they can potentially get better players from college that no one really knows how good or bad they'll truly be but because some 'expert' told them there is a deep draft this year the fans think that losing is better than winning games, which is total bull ****" happens.

Eff this poll, add the option. "The NBA sucks for having a system that encourages ****ty play." and I'll choose that one.
