Jazz almost pulled off trading Millsap for Robin Lopez if sources are right.
Does this mean Millsap will still be traded at end of season?
Will Jazz make same trade?
Millsap for Robin Lopez.
If Jazz had pulled off this trade today what would starting lineup be for rest of season?
Jefferson at C. Favors at PF.
Very interesting future for Jazz.
Jazz must be very high on Favors.

Millsap is a nice player, but you ain't gonna contend with a midget at PF. Jazz are a turrible rebounding team. And you would have though the opposite with Millsap, Jefferson and AK.

Big Al and Favors are a very nice combo at PF. Then you'd have Lopez and Jefferson splitting time at the 5. Favors may even play some at the 5 eventually. I don't mention Okur because he may never come back; insurance might be paying his salary next season and then he's done.

I'd be very happy with Jefferson, Favors and Lopez all getting 30-35 mins at the 4/5. Evans could be an emergency PF or we could maybe draft another 4/5 or a 3/4 for additional depth. And AK, if he returns, could even play some 4 in case of foul trouble or injury. It's going to take a couple of years, but Favors WILL be a very good big man.

What's happened that everyone thinks Millsap for Lopez is a good deal? To me, it's a small step above waiving Millsap outright. Who cares if Lopez is bigger? So is Elson.

I am so with you on this. Milsap for Lopez is crap. Milsap needs to be moved for a shooter in the offseason.

Lopez is good. Elson isn't. Waiving Millsap has got to be one of the worst personnel moves you could ever do.

Which is precisely why I say trading him for Lopez is only a step above that. I think the problem people are having is that the Millsap/Jefferson frontcourt isn't living up to the lofty expectations set. Yes, he's undersized. Getting a bigger player with far less talent isn't the answer.

Um, Lopez may be 7'0", but is only averaging 5.8rpg in 34:23 mins this season (8.1 reb/48mins). His career average is 7.7 rpg in 33:53 mins/game (10.9 reb/48). This season Millsap is averaging 7.8 rpg in 34:06 mins/game (11.0 reb/48) down from his career average of 6.7 reb/game in 25:36/game (12.6 reb/48) - whichever way you look at it, Millsap is the better rebounder. In short (pardon the expression), Lopez is NOT the answer to our rebounding woes.

EDIT: Woah, I didn't read the original post closely enough - I assumed this trade was for Brook Lopez. The above numbers are for him. I don't know why we'd even think about trading for Robin Lopez... who, BTW, is averaging 10.3 reb/48 this season against a career average of 10.7 reb/48... hmmm, I guess that does make him the better rebounder of the two - but still worse than Millsap.

Source? cause a Millsap for Lopez straight swap wouldnt have worked.

Rumor was Millsap for Lopez and Pietrus.

Lopez had been out injured at the beginning of the season. Soon after he's back, the team traded for Gortat.

He may not be consistent, which is normal for a young player, but he has good potentials. In the game against us in Salt Lake, he ran the pick and roll perfectly with Nash and showed he has good hands.

Having said that, I prefer to develop Favors and mold him into our center of the future. He has the height, size and strength to be a Howard/Tyson Chandler type of center with supreme athleticism.

They talked about it on 1280 following the expiration of the trade deadline.

So basically it is a pile of crap and probably a fabrication by a terrible station.

Don't know about favors being a center. I think he is a pure pf.

If he bulks with muscle he is Dwight Howard size and athleticism. That is peoples thinking with saying center. He was called a poor mans d-ho during the draft process.
