I really ragged on Ainge here and maybe these guys improve greatly in the next year or two. This season our guys' warts were on full display and I can see their market value taking a hit as well. Can you imagine the Warriors reaction when Ainge proposes a Key for Pods trade straight up?

Cody Williams is such a negative, I don't know how you can give any grade higher than a D if Williams is involved. He is not just an F he is a zero. I would trade him, if anyone would trade for him. His shot is just broken.

It's a D for me.
Although I love Collier and Filipowski, they are not more than role bench players on a good team, unless they improve exponentially in the next couple years.
We need to hit on our top picks, and so far we've not.

Ainge's top 10 picks are embarrassing. His picks after 20 look like the best gm in the league. Drafting on potential is a crapshoot. Hopefully 3rd time is a charm.
I concur with this view as it stands. Maybe time will prove that we held funerals for Cody too early, but we at this point we gotta roll with the evidence we have.

I'm giving DA a C mainly because of missing on the important picks. The 2024 "running to podium" and "we would have considered him #1" pick on Cody looks like disastrous assessment, and in 2023 they made a much better assessment and wanted Bilal but couldnt/wouldnt move up and eventually Wizards blocked them. I know they werent that thrilled about Hendricks, but the fact that they didnt get the guys they wanted (Black/Bilal) led to a similar result as their failed 2024 assessment.

The other interesting question is which one was worse:
  • 2023 - Getting beaten by Washington Wizards in getting the guy you want
  • 2024 - Making poor assessment on a prospect
I could see why someone thinks that 2023 result was even worse. Failed assessments are part of the business, and there is no FO who doesnt miss the mark every now and then. Hendricks may or may not turn into a good player, but they already confessed that he was a "meh" pick and they wanted someone else, who they simply failed to get.

I wouldn't close the book on Cody or Tay Henny just yet. If they do the off season work, maybe just maybe they become passable players. Key and Brice are big question marks for me. Can they work on their Achilles heals in the off season. Brice suddenly gains basketball smarts and Key gets rid of his bad attitude and suddenly wants to play D.

Not sure how some here can give that pick an F when most here were pretty excited for the pick. Drafting prospects outside the top 3-5 is a huge crapshoot.

Can't go above a C tier until we see what Hendrix can do. Filip is a major plus but Cody is a major minus. Key is a slight negative whereas Brice is a slight positive. So basically all cancelled each other out to an "average" grade of C.

I’ll give him a solid B.

I wanted any of Black, Walker or Coulibaly in 23, but they were gone and DA didn’t want to burn assets moving up. Hendricks was my highest rated player at that point and I think it was a solid pick.

Keyonte gets a lot of hate, but he’s one of the better players from that draft class. I think he’d fills the Jordan Clarkson 6th man role for the near future. I liked the pick at the time, and still do.

I did not like the Brice Sensabaugh pick (mostly due to injury concerns) and I was wrong about that one. Great pick at that point. (I personally wanted GG, but can understand why everyone passed - still think he’d have been a solid get.)

I had Buzelis as my guy last year, so that one’s a D for me (although I still have a lot of hope for Cody to prove me wrong). This is the only truly bad pick that I didn’t love - although Cody’s hype made me not hate it either. Now he just needs to live up to it.

Collier was a slam dunk and Filipowski was as well (although I struggled to decide between him and Furphy after round 1 ended.) Probably his best two picks in the two seasons he’s been here.

We don’t have all the information at hand like they do, especially the mental and psychological side of things which is a huge determination of a player’s success.

We expect most guys coming i to the draft to “want it”, but there are levels to that.

You gotto want it to succeed in this League.
