What's new

What if Jazz still makes the playoffs?

What if pigs fly?

It ain't happening. Hope we all enjoy finding the silver lining in losses cuz it's about to become the new thing

If we sneak into the playoffs it could be the start of a very OKC-esque type build up. When they got in as the 8th seed a few seasons back everyone knew that team was ready to explode. Granted they were like a 49 win 8th seed, but still very young and playing well together. They had the star (Durant) and budding stars (Westbrook/Ibaka), but I think we could have similar success with a well balanced and improving starting 5.

I can handle losses if it means we are working towards the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal to me is attempting to win an NBA title. Some people are just content being an 8th seed team that is not only mediocre, but has no shot at making the WC Finals let alone the Finals. I am not that person. Last year was a collective struggle for most people on this message board because we knew that Al and Paul ultimately had no chance to get us to the promised land. It's time to roll the dice with these young players. At best, they might surprise us. At worst, we will finally figure out who we should keep and who we shouldn't.

Given the current lineup and the Jazz still makes the playoffs ... would you be heartbroken / disgusted on missing out on the draft lottery next year?
Of course, the assumption, which is actually more bad, is that the Jazz won't make it past the 1st round.

I am fine with whatever happens this coming year as long as the young guys play I am fine with the outcome. More important than getting a top 5 pick is to develop our young core.

I think the Jazz have a chance with the GS pick to get a lottery pick. I think most teams especially in the West have improved. The Blazers, Kings, New Orleans, etc are improved. Even if they are not better than GS they are going to be more competitive and be able to beat GS on a given night. It isn't like there was a big gap between where the Tankers finished last year and missing the playoffs. GS is one team who got worse in my opinion, losing Jack and Landry is huge chemistry wise and the fragile health of several players could lead to them missing the playoffs. Man are GS fans going to be pissed if the unprotected pick 2014 becomes a lottery pick.

If they make it this would prove that Corbin is the worst coach in NBA history. He has been wasting all the young players for 3 years...

Your unrelenting negativity must be a horrible way to live. Go get laid man. Damn

This season is a win no matter what. If we suck due to our bench, we get a nice pick. If GSW sucks, we get a nice pick. If GSW is decent, we can add a role player in that draft.

If we make the playoffs, it means the Jazz found their core and a Superstar has emerged amongst them. This team really has no bench and no expectations as such, other then to finally get a chance to prove themselves.

Rumors aside, the West's playoff teams haven't really changed at all and most are only getting better. Such is the brutality of the division.

I think even though this year's team may be less equipped to make the playoffs due to expected offensive efficiency (or lack thereof), I truly believe they are more equipped to compete in the playoffs if they make it due to their expected improvements in defense.
