I think we'd either trade him out or keep him as a rotation guy. He's not going to be elite, but maybe if he's a 4th option he can learn to complement other guys. Keep in mind, he's been acting like he's the first or second option offensive player in his first two seasons, in part because we've lacked that alpha scorer. But if he'll mellow out and just try to fit in, he could be an adequate player.
I actually think that's what he'll do. Maybe even better. I think he's a better shooter than his numbers have indicated.
Is someone forcing him to take 20 off dribble bricks a game?
Yes. Quin Snyder.
Only problem is that Burke is a scoring shoot first pg. he'll need to change from the ground up the way he plays. There's too big a sample to just suggest he's going to all of a sudden get better. As bad a shooter as he was his rookie year, he somehow managed to shoot even worse. Just don't see him making a big enough improvement shooting only marginal improvement, and as bad as he was last year a marginal improvement doesn't mean much, probably.
I don't think this is necessarily true about Burke. His 2nd year at UM he was a pure point and that was his selling point. He set a school record for assist in a season. The biggest knock on Trey IMO are his still below average defense, and his poor shooting.
Folks... I think most of us agree that trey doesn't fit the style of the rest of our team. Shoot first, short for his position, less athletic than other players in his position, shorter arms, and he takes pics of his Charlie wang.
Still, I think you guys go way too far here. I was a huge naysayer at the start of 2014 but I loved how he didn't pout coming off the bench. I loved how he came in and got into the paint with ease. His shooting % went down but look at Hayward in 2013. Both were asked to "score" more than the previous year. Snyder and DL both talked about how they had asked trey to come off the bench to boost our offense with the second group. Before he did we went nearly a month watching the bench play great defense and not be able to put the ball in the net with lineups like dante, jingles, gobert, and an assortment of options. We had Kanter come in to score and the offense was paralyzed. Trey won me over as an option off the bench no doubt. He will be back to prove some of you Nancy's wrong this season. He has the starting spot to lose and surely is motivated to make his impression yo!
Bra (currently sagging in the southern hemisphere). Bra out! (Mic drop)
