What is our roster next season

The contract becomes fully guaranteed on July 6th.

Could they theoretically come to terms with a max free agent on say July 2, do some roster maneuvering, decline Favors current deal and then negotiate with him on a cheaper deal?

I think that’s legal.

Wish I could disagree with you, but I also think those three are gone. Bradley assumes the end of bench role that Udoh has. I could also see both Naz and Cavanaugh promoted. The first round pick will be a wing who's played multiple years in college and is more "NBA ready" than other prospects. But he'll be as disappointing as Allen because that's how Lindsey drafts.

Favors will be back. Neto will return, as will Korver. Lindsey will sign the best PG he can find who is willing to take the MLE and come to Utah. Expect to see a lot more of Donovan playing the 1.
That + being projected to be drafted below the Jazz's expected position = Dylan Windler.

Thank you voice of doom.
Feel free to bump my post when the only significant acquisition is a shooter at the MLE.

It's not really doom.In a lot of ways that makes sense, including Rubio on a 1+1 deal to give the Jazz a lot of ammo at next year's deadline.

Not hoping for that, but I just don't see a great FA signing with the Jazz. In that case, it makes sense NOT to go under the cap as that would eliminate the full MLE and only leave us with the room exception.

Next year the Jazz need to give themselves some flexibility in case the injury bug hits. This year the team had 15 guaranteed contracts and when Bricky, X and Neto were hurt at once the Jazz hands were tied. Naz wasn't ready for prime time and the Jazz were stuck. Next year it might be necessary to add a wing or a big.

I'm assuming Raul stays. It was that the Jazz were stuck when the injury bug struck this year. Have 14 guaranteeds, one open and the two two-ways.

I have no idea what from my history of extensive posts on this subject would make you assume I think you are wrong. That's absolutely what is going to happen. And I fully disagree about it being the "right" move, unless it is from the standpoint of forever maintaining flexibility while simultaneously forever avoiding all risk.

DL drafts another superstar at the back end of the draft. Signs another Ingles / Royce type bargain bin player. Signs a Joe Harris level free agent in the offseason.
