Because the Jazz are the team that drafted Rudy and they have the ability to pay him more. Butler got the max that he's eligible to receive. Rudy's max is the super-max. Although the Jazz shouldn't give Rudy the super-max, they can give him a nod and exceed the max.

I'd probably lean the Conley one of these two.

DM/Royce/Joe/Bojan/Rudy is my favorite though.

Teams find a way to move folks and pay for players they really want. Plenty of teams would pay more than that for Rudy. I hope we get him for as little as possible and I am sure that is why the negotiations are ongoing. I am sure we will pay as little as we can and still keep him. I hope it is on the low end but I am not optimistic. The thought that we will bid against ourselves is absurd. I am very confident in saying that has never been true.

I think a fair negotiation range would be something in the range of 5/$140M and 5/$160M...but with UTA's track record on contract negotiations, I'd expect that the negotiation is super max or GTFO from Rudy's side. Guess we'll see who blinks.
