What is the internet?

Answer to the thread question.

I bet your average Internet user cannot answer (without googling) what Gopher or Usenet was (is).

arrggghhh....

gopher seems familiar but I'd have to google - - and usenet, off the top of my head, wasn't it some sort of electronic bulletin board?

I dimly recall doing research years and years ago where I communicated via usenet (I think) - I'd have to type in a rather lengthy code to get to the right spot

Prodigy was where it was at. I remember vividly my first trip to the Interwebz, and it was via Prodigy.

palin's hair stylist was paid more than mccain's foreign advisor during the 2008 election cycle. you welcome

Well, obviously, since the topic of this thread is "What is the Internet", anything you can put into, or find in, the 'Net, is "on topic". Has anyone googled to find out what Reagan's or Gore's hairstylists were paid? or their wardrobe managers? Clearly, folks voted for Obama because he simply used one of those self-grooming electric shavers with a quarter-inch spacer, and he looked good as well as cheap. Just proves Americans vote for appearances and not reality. And McCain, OMG, obviously he was just a place-holder on the ballot and it was never intended even by the Republicans to actually oppose let alone defeat Bush III.

A couple of things, ok one thing really if you want us ignorant people to participate in your political or intellectual threads you need pictures or videos to entertain and dumb it down so here is a oldie but goodie and one that applies as well IMO.

WoW video is always a sweet addition to any thread.
