What's new

What is the least you would take for Big Al?

I'm drinking Canadian Whiskey. I can only assume you are consuming the Kentucky version.

Otherwise we would both be better off doing something else.

Normally, yes, but not tonight .. just can't sleep. Oh, and this thread is dumb enough to keep me entertained.

~ means 'around'

Is that what you meant?

Haha no. I was trying to make a joke about not being able to understand what you wrote. Darft picks were flying around and then the bobcats came out of left field. Maybe I'm a dummy or something though.

It's ok, I speak strange in real life too.
I just meant that we could be contenders in 2 years and at the same time be adding a high level draft pick.

I think the Jazz will keep Al until at least the trade deadline if not for the entire season. And I think Favors will start with him. Sap will go where he belongs to 6th man and we will use the year to gradually get more minutes out of Kanter so he can start in 2014.

I'm only replying because I enjoy seeing the OP freak out about every post that suggests Al is worth more than a used candy wrapper. I hope Al is traded and I will be disappointed in KOC if he isn't, but I would also be disappointed if we get less than a good wing player or a first round pick this year or next.

The worst case scenario is to have Big Al on the team next year. That would damage the entire team. So it matters not what you get for him, nothing, something, two bags of doritos, anything.

Al Jefferson is the equivalent of Stephon Marbury. His worth could be anywhere from a Jason Kidd to telling him to not come back.

That being said, I want him gone. If we can get a shooter, I will be happy. If we amnesty him, I will be happy. I just want him gone.

What? I think you are just projecting how you feel about Big Al. No way do the Jazz just tell him not to come back.

Realistically, a mid 1st round pick this year or a lotto pick next year would be the least I would hope the Jazz get...

Sadly though, Big Al isn't going anywhere any time soon.

A top 20 pick this year, or lotto pick next year, or three quality roll players, or let him expire. 14 million$ in cap space would be nice. I'm not going to paint myself as a GM that can be pushed around, otherwise I will never get a decent trade offer from other GM's because they think they can get something for nothing from me.

What is the difference between amnestying him before the season and letting him walk after the season? Besides another year of wasted development for Favors and Kanter.

Good rotation player
2 1st rounders.

I wanted to trade him for our first rounder and GSW's #9 pick last season.
We could have drafted MKG/Barnes/Beal at #4-6 and Precious Lillard at #9.
With another year underneath Hayward and Favors belts, that window of opportunity has closed.

Lillard
Hayward, Burks
MKG/Beal, Hayward
Favors, Millsap
Kanter, Favors
-At least another pick for Jefferson
-$16,519,786 in cap space assuming $60mm salary cap and #5,9 rookie scale contracts. We could have resigned Morris Almond with that kind of cash, or gave Steve Nash a hell of a tempting one year deal.

(Seriously, KOC, you need to call me.)
