But why would you take the top tier player out from each team since it might be the biggest determining factor? Playing with Gobert is much much better for GH than playing with Thomas - not even close. I get your point about the depth at Boston and I agree but if I were Hayward that would be secondary to who I will spend most of the time on the court with. If Hayward leaves, I will not be surprised at all if it is someplace other than Boston.

I didn't ask who Hayward would want to play with. I asked who would YOU want to play with

Taking the "top tier" players out from each team (Gobert, Thomas, Al). Who would you rather play with personally? Hood, a broken Burks that's played 100 games in 3-4 years, Exum, Lyles OR Brown, Avery, Kelly, Smart (Possibly Fultz, we will find out tonight).

It's not even close to me sadly.

I would want to play with JJ, a healthy Favors, a healthy Hood, Ingles, and Exum. Partially because they are really good players when healthy and partially because most of the Jazz team does not take the ball out of my hands when I want it and will many of them will take the shots when I dont want to.

Here's what Hayward *should* do for his own self interest ---

** Sign a 1x1 max deal. Take a raise and put pressure on the Jazz to keep improving and making him happy as a focal point of the team.
** Give himself another year to see if he can become an All NBA player. He's very close right now.
** See what the league looks like one year from now -- Are the Warriors in tact? Is Cleveland still dominating the East? What are Jimmy Butler and Paul George doing? What other teams are a good fit for him?

The Celtics are interesting, but IT and Horford, plus a rookie and a collection of okay guards and wings isn't enticing enough. Especially since they can't rebound. The Celtics could have lost to the Bulls and the Wizards, let alone the fact that they're going to get whacked by the Cavs.

I put it at Jazz 70% chance

Another team not name Boston at 25% chance

Boston at 5% or less

I think there are better suited teams for Hayward depending on what he wants than Boston. Although that could change if Boston makes some big moves before FA begins. But the same is true of Jazz and every other team in the NBA.

By the way, if Boston miraculously get past the Cavs, then it is unlikely they'll seek another star player, and they'll likely stick with their core. They can't afford to add another 30m+ contract and resign all of their core players. And if they make it to the Finals, they aren't letting go of IT.

I am showing that they have 73.4 million in guaranteed contracts next year. But I would be surprised if Pau opted out of his 16m. But I also would not be surprised if Parker retired which would clear up 15.4 million, although maybe he will just stick around another year for the free money. I assume they could dump Danny Green if they really needed to clear up space as well.

That's a lot of but's, if's and maybe's if you ask me. Is Parker going to take one for the team? Is Gasol going to turn down over $16mm for a team he's played for for a year or two?

There is no Hayward to San Antonio scenario here.

They can make room if he wants to go and they want him. It's pretty easy. I don't think Hayward is interested and I don't know that they will recruit him.

The whole idea of going to Boston for a better team is dumb too.

-Horford has been in decline for three years and is now on possibly the most toxic NBA contract not named Alec Burks.
-Isaiah Thomas is the only thing carrying that team (and should be on the Jazz (damn you KOC).
-Avery Bradley has most likely peaked and will start his regression soon enough. Maybe one or two years.

So Hayward is going to Boston wanting to win for that? Hell nah. Is the #1 overall pick really enough to compare that to Utah?

Agreed.

That said, a healthy Favors is almost exactly what Boston needs.

I think it's better than 50%. Pretty nervous right now.

The biggest problem is not Boston to me it's GS and the super team environment. It's so hard to build a team like that unless you are a FA destination and winning a championship against them will require FA to band together on one team. Not sure it's championship or nothing for Hayward but GS is kind of ruining the NBA for the die hard fans of non-GS teams. For casual fans it's great.

Players have to decide between being the man and likely never winning a championship or banding together and forgoing some of the personal achievement to win a championship.

100 freaking percent. He just wants to exercise the option of having a look around before he signs, probably wants to make the Jazz sweat a little. Boston isn't anywhere near actually contending any more than we are, they won 51 games in the pitiful eastern conference and just squeezed past a pathetic Bulls team and a limited Wizards team that we handled this year. They have a bunch of salary issues coming up in the next few years, and a midget is NOT going to lead a team to a title. LeBron is playing his best playoff ball atm and showing no signs of decline.

Basketball wise, money wise, location and environment for his personality.

Bitches should stop hysterically whining and fretting.

the only annoying thing is that George didn't extend when he had a chance, things would have been a lot more settled if he'd done that. I hope he ends up with less money for being unrealistically greedy.
