Hayward's career scoring numbers are these:
5.4
11.8
14.1
16.2
19.3
19.7
22.1 (work in progress)

I remember Locke saying a year or two ago that it was rare for a player to increase scoring 5 (or 6) seasons in a row. Is Hayward close to a record now?

I legit have recollection that Avery Johnson had the record when he was playing for like six or seven seasons in a row. Not sure if that's accurate though and I may be misremembering.

Players are younger so hard to compare.

Stockton had 6 and a tied 7th season.

Just looked it up. AJ went up seven seasons in a row.

Who?

Jimmy Butler currently has six to Hayward's 7. I think they both max out at 7 with some great variable years in between. Hayward will beat this season high but it might take him 3-4 years.

Avery Johnson's scoring avg progression from the start of his NBA career looked like this:

1.6
2.6
4.7
5.6
8.7
10.9
13.4

I don't think it's really comparing apples to apples. I mean, how hard is it really to increase your scoring average from 1.6 to 2.6 ppg, or from 4.7 to 5.6 ppg. What Hayward is doing is far more impressive IMO.
