Again this is assuming the coaching staff hasn't told Burke to be ultra aggressive no matter what given his role and the fact that there was no way the team was making the Playoffs. Kobe put up four airballs in one game and never stop shooting. Just looking at things at face value isn't always the best way to come to a conclusion. Again if you have confidence in your ability and the defense is leaving you open you shoot. It's on Burke to make shots. I've said it before the shots he's missing will make or break him as a pro. Either way taking them doesn't necessarily make him a low IQ player.

lolololololol best justification of Trey's abysmal play yet ... "Kobe keeps shooting if he's off .... Trey should just keep shooting too !!!!!"

When was the last time Kobe averaged <39% for the season? Ummm, let's see...try NEVER! Kobe is a career 45% FG shooter. I don't think too many of us are bothered by Trey taking OPEN shots. The point is, half his shots AREN'T open. He dribbles the clock down and has to take a jumper over a defender or he tries to drive to the hoop against multiple defenders. A player with HIGH IQ draws the defenders to him and then passes to an open teammate. I'm sick of seeing Trey try to go up against the trees inside and ignoring open teammates. I don't care if it's freakin' Elijah Millsap behind the arc. Even a wide-open Millsap has a better chance of hitting an outside shot than a contested Burke.

It's not a justification of anything. It was an example of a player widely viewed as a high IQ player early in his career doing something similar to what Burke did. I'd agree if I was missing that many shots I'd stop, but I'm not locking myself in a gym for hours taking 1000's of shots either. The point is if he's a starter level player Trey will have to take and make those shots on a regular basis.

Again this is your opinion. When I watch the games I see the ball move and make it's way back to Trey after nobody shoots it then Trey is forced to attack and try to get his shot off. Show me a stat that says you're right I'm wrong.

And what you all seem to be forgetting about Trey is he's still a WIP. The idea that this guy has reached his max is just illogical yet it is just assumed around this board. Attacking and taking those shot are more than likely good for his development. Now he knows what he needs to work on to improve finishing at the basket. If I'm a coaching staff and I have a young player and no chance of making the Playoffs. I'd do what Snyder did. Move him to the bench and tell him to be aggressive creating his own offense. That's vaulable experience. Sure it'll lead to 2-22 nights if he's off like Burke has been for two season now. However it'll teach him several things. He should lead with the pass at this level and that it takes a lot of development of skill and body to be able to do things. Maybe these lesson are completely loss on Burke and he's the aimless chucker everybody are so quick to label him. Or maybe it's a teaching moment that Burke has used to be come an all around better pro. You bet against him I'll bet with him. Either way how about we just wait.

We watch the games and see different things. There may be times the ball comes back to him late. But I've seen way too many times of him taking the clock down so far he has no choice but to drive or pull up and shoot. There aren't stats to prove one of us right or wrong. Any stat we use would show the number of times Trey takes a shot with <5 secs on the shot clock. And then you'd have to review the game film each time to see why he took that shot.

You could look to see - and there was a thread devoted to this - why Hayward was almost non existent in the 1st quarter of many games early in the season. Magically, Gordon started to produce when Trey was demoted.

I actually went back a few months ago to watch the 1st ten games from start to finish specifically looking to see if Trey was taking Ill advised. I didn't see him freezing Hayward or anybody out. He shot the ball poorly but I didn't see a guy taking poor shots or just holding on to the ball. My ball stream membership expired before I could get to the other games. However most I watch live and still don't recall Trey just dribbling the clock out then forcing a bad shot.

He's still shooting way too much though.

I think we should talk with the Hawks. They've got two starting-caliber PGs in Teague and Schroeder.
