Again if you are off I'd agree stop shooting. But the guy has the utmost confidence in himself. Which isn't a terrible trait if he becomes much more accurate. Long story short he has to hit shots. 12-14 shots a game isn't to much at 46%-48% and 37%-39% from 3.

You could say this about SO many players who have played themselves out of the league or are shooting it up in the DLeague wondering why they aren't getting a shot in the NBA.

Bottom line is Trey has SUCKED for two years. You can't deny the percentages. He went from a poor 38%/33% to a miserable <37%/<32%. You can keep saying he's not a finished player and he will improve. Maybe so. We said the same thing after his rookie season - because all rookies struggle. Now some are grasping at straws by citing sources that say the greatest improvement comes between the 2nd and 3rd seasons. Well, I sure hope so.

Can a player shoot much worse? Not likely. Wasn't there a post showing Trey was one of the worst shooters in NBA history last year (for players who had attempted a certain number of shots)? And if he DOES improve his shooting, will it only be up to his rookie season or just slightly above? At a certain point, you have to cut bait. Do we keep making excuses for him after year 3,4,5? DL screwed up. He drafted an undersized chucker who plays slow and is a poor defender. DL liked his "intangibles." But Trey thinks "leadership" is shooting the ball whenever he can. Sorry, but a guy with HIGH BB IQ would realize that a team is better off when he gets the ball to players with much better shooting %'s. Trey took the 2nd most shots on the team last season and outside of Dante and Elijah - both of whom rarely shot - had the WORST shooting percentages on the team for players who averaged >10 mins/per.
 
I think we just stick with the group we have. We have point guard by committee at this point. Burke, Hayward dominate the minutes. Cotton and Neto duke it out for sloppy seconds. Why do we need another point? 2 weeks ago everyone was whining about how crowded the point guard spot was.

Gun to my head... I have to have a 5th point on the team then I go combo and bring in Diante Garrett who is athletic, played well with the Jazz, loved being here, and gives us the length/shooting that we just lost with Dante.

Is it even possible to neg yourself?...It's only fair...I will be awaiting my net/neg.

As far as what (if any) PG the Jazz should pursue, it's hard to say as it's all relative to the price in which it would cost. I hope they first explore the trade market as I believe that the FO should use this (unfortunate) opportunity to acquire a PG that is ready to contribute now. Preferably, one who is a willing passer, can hit an open 3, isn't a negative on defense, & is under contract beyond this year. Off the top of my head, George Hill is the first player that comes to mind (although I'm not sure he will be attainable at a reasonable price).

I admittedly haven't looked into the PG or FA market enough to give a definitive answer, but I'm sure that there are other good options out there [which, if there are, I'd imagine the FO will(/is) look(/looking) into them]. Personally, I believe that the FO has enough confidence in Snyder & our current roster that they won't overpay just to acquire an upgrade at the position. If they are unable to find a reasonable deal, I expect them to either take a chance on a FA PG or enter the season with what we currently have, evaluate later on, & adjust from there. Either way, it will be interesting to see how this plays out as it will undoubtedly have a major impact on the outcome of this upcoming season (as well as possibly even the seasons beyond this one).

Because our PG rotation is probably the worst in the NBA right now and it's holding back the rest of our starters.

Chalmers and Temple are the only realistic options we can get.

I don't wanna punch myself while watching games at 4-5 AM thanks to Chalmers and his no brainers.

It sounds like if the Jazz do look to sign a taller guard to replace Exum for a year, then Bryce Cotton will be released.

Though it seems contrary to say, the Exum mishap might have complicated Cotton’s chances of making the roster. The Jazz may feel like they need to add some outside help now, and if they do, they’re certainly not going to dedicate five roster spots to point guards.

The downside, of course, is that the Jazz have no way of maintaining Cotton’s rights if they cut him. He could be called up — or even claimed off waivers — by any NBA team. But let’s also not overstate what kind of a tragedy that would be. Cotton has had a nice summer, and before that he had a handful of impressive outings at the tail end of last season. But he’s still a borderline rotation player in even the most optimistic scenarios. I believe Cotton is as good as gone. Stay with Burke, Neto, and Cotton, and he'll make the roster. But right now the odds seem overwhelming that Cotton will not be playing for the Jazz next year.....
 
I wasn't aware Dan Clayton was part of the coaching staff or front office. Quoting him as evidence the Jazz will be getting rid of Cotton carries about as much weight as quoting someone from this board.

Red, I know you're a huge Cotton fan. But you have to step in from the ledge.
