What Price Should the Jazz Extend THT?

I mean I get you like THT and I'm beginning to see some reasons to keep him as well, but you gotta be realistic. If we keep him it would be "despite his poor 3P shooting".

All he shoots is open shots. He has taken 529 three point shots in his career:
1 has come against very tight coverage (0-2f t)
16 have come against tight coverage (2-4 ft)
172 have been open (4-6 ft)
340 have been wide open (6+ ft)

On wide open shots alone, he is 29.4% with 100/340.

For reference, here are all splits from his career based on closest defender:

Sad to see one poster hating on so much talent

The man who called himself "the most objective poster on the board" dislikes and calls out a post that is 100% based on career stats.

It would be nice if you went out and bought a dictionary.
Stats are flawed and you are using **** from when he was 18 years old. He's different now and he's been proving he can shoot consistently for the last 10 months. Stop hating.

Lmao brother. He had his best 3P% in his rookie year. His 2nd year was on par with his 4th. 3rd year was worse but we can ignore that if you want.

In fact, exclude any 3 years from his 4 year career and he is still bad. As long as you have to count a full year its bad.

Its not hating since I'm just objective. Also if I was hating on the guy, then why am I leaning on extending? Explain that you genious.

The facts are he has been balling since 2023. Continue to doubt. It's not going to look good for you.

Well if I'm wrong and he has turned into a 35% shooter under our coaching staff then I'm just happy to be wrong.

But if you extend him now, you extend him as a bad 3P shooter.

Step outside of your schtick for a second. THT opted in to 11M for one year this off-season. If he thought he could get ANYWHERE near 4/60M this off-season he would have opted out.

So explain to me how being the only team willing to give him that deal is getting value.
He opted in because he wanted to prove himself this year. He is doing that. He loves it in Utah. Utah needs to reward him for his hard work.

I believe everyone would be thrilled for THT to turn into a 50% / 40% guy. If he achieves that he will be a great player who is worth the money you are suggesting.

But, the reality is that he has been a poor shooter / finisher from everywhere on the court.

Even the tail end of last season when he got a lot more burn I don’t think his percentages sky rocketed, but I’m also admitting that I don’t care enough to go double check… so please hit me with the data.

He has been much more efficient this year, but you don’t offer an extension based on three preseason games. If he keeps it up I’m willing to buy into THT island, and I truly do hope he keeps it up.
