What the Actual Fudge is Wrong with NBA 2K16 Shooting Accuracy?

Any of you guys have an idea about this pisser?

I've looked around a bit and some say it has been scripted to canalize the player to dunks (which sounds truly lame) and some others say that they have made the field gol percentages to be determined in a more realistic way to avoid other players hacking into career mode and crushing all around with 99 overall players.

The game really angered me in that manner so any info or help would be very welcome.

I think they made it so if you're shooting a contested shot the accuracy is a lot less than if you're shooting a wide open shot.

It does force you to pass around a bit more to look for an open man or call for a screen and try to get an open shot that way.

I even brick wide open ones. It is so frustrating.

Oh ok.. may be it's the timing then? Every player has a different shooting stroke now so it's pretty hard to get the timing right for each player.

Burke's release is the worst BTW, he is short and the release. is. so. slowwww... he ALWAYS gets blocked.

Thanks I'll try it out.

You should talk to my step son. When I play with him he finishes games shooting about 90%. It's ridiculous.

I stopped playing NBA video games when they decided that being realistic was more important than being fun. Around 2005, I think.

I totally dig. My routine is to download a trainer to boost up to 99 and see how it feels. My favorite NBA game is NBA Live 98. Dat intentional charge frenzy doe.

Yeah I agree. I think it was NBA Live 2003 or 2004 that was the most fun for me. You can do this hop-step move for a dunk at the rim that will beat the defender every-single-time.

Why was that fun? Because I can use that move PLUS having Peja Stojakovic on my team gave me the 1-2 punch (he's shooting 80% from 3's). So when I'm bored or when I have a stressful day at work I can just jump on Playstation and trash a team or two for stress relieve.

I think my favourite team on there was the Mavericks with Michael Finley as the slasher, don't remember if Dirk was that good, but I'd trade for Stojakovic and have him on the 3pt line knocking down shots.

My loss-of-interest point was one of the NBA Live games more than a decade ago where they decided that having a single "shoot" button was no longer enough. Apparently, pressing shoot when close to the basket to have the game determine whether a player dunks or takes a jump shot based on his stats was unrealistic, so now they had to split things into three buttons. A jump shot button, a dunk/layup button, and even an alley-oop button. Because the more buttons you have to remember and press, the more realistic and fun the game is, apparently. My favourite part was that pressing a dunk/layup button outside the dunk/layup range would cause your players to attempt a finger roll layup from whatever distance he was at, even beyond the three point line. Missing every time, of course. This "move" even had its own unique animation different from an actual layup(that could go in), so that the moment the guy went up, you know whether it was the always-miss or an actual layup. Which was awesome when you had a 7 footer right next to the basket, pressed dunk/layup and he'd go into the finger roll thing. Because that's more realistic than one shooting button.

Use the analog stick for lay-ups and dunks it determines whether you are going to lay/dunk it from left or right. It helps getting easy finishes away from the rim protector.

As for jump shots always look for the open man.
