What to do with Taylor Hendricks year one

Besides spot-up, His offensive game is based on athleticism, not nba skills. Against tier 2 colleges this was enough. But his athletic advantage at nba level is a different story altogether. Offensive IQ is a big question mark and his learning curve will be steep.

He was my guy in the draft, but I see him as more of a high upside/ low downside project offensively.

I think we need to level set expectations or we’re going to be killing the guy for no reason.

It’s not how he did it. Guys win rotation spots and then if they don’t play themselves out of the rotation they kinda stay there until an injury or in our case a trade happened. Unless there was load management the rotation was the rotation.

Once it was tank season you saw THT and Ochai getting a bunch of burn… they collected dnps when healthy.
You don't remember when he was cycling through NAW and THT? Or randomly interesting Udoka?

His offensive game will be spot up shooting and rim running. Those are 100% nba skills and they should translate quickly. Over time hopefully he also develops more of an off the dribble game and post game but he can have a very successful nba career being a high level spot up shooter and rim runner.

Not how I remember it. There were injuries and absences and at one point THT was so awful he got himself benched. Once the trades and injuries hit it was whoever is available plays.

Coaches don’t randomly cycle through players… it’s a good way to lose your guys. The rotation generally gets set and is adjusted based on injury or poor/great performance. Generally being “fine but not great” means you stay in the rotation.

But he did cycle the back end. You got some memory loss or something.

Last seasons theme was to evaluate the guys we got. All but few were new to the team.

Considering those premises Hardy did surprisingly little shuffling. Maybe that was due to the early success.

I mean Rudy Gays corpse was in the rotation until we fully sold off vets and managed injuries. THT got yanked from the rotation due to sucking. Other than that it was really trades and injuries that caused the rotation to change.

So we don't want to evaluate Samanic/Hendricks/Sensabaugh/Simone?

Those 4 will all be cycled through for minutes until someone really steps up.

Yeah, you have a bad memory. Time for your son to put you in a home.

Go check the game logs and come back to me. I’m sharp homey… I remember you calling Tony Bradley a poor man’s Aldridge… I remember you telling us the Jazz would be awful… I remember you telling us we should send Walker Kessler to the G League.
