I have heard decent things about this. But I detest Anne Hathaway so I just can't bring myself to watch it.

That stupid chicken in my favorite in this movieI just saw Moana last night. It was okay, but I liked the music. I have a bit of a crush on Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The stupid chicken was kinda funny in a stupid way. It must have been fun for the animators to figure out all of his silly antics.
I liked Ghost in a shell.. Never saw the cartoon but Scarlett Jo did a damn good job and the effects are some of the best you'll see..
thats a quality sci-fi flick, for sure. Take it from someone who's waded thru tons of crap in that genre.

BTW what's your favourite scifi movie? Or like a top 5?
Well thats the sort of question where It's pretty much a given that Im gonna regret leaving something out, If you could specify sub-genre's that'd actually make it much easier for me. Here's my attempt at answering that just based on the genre tho. Cuz to me there's stuff that has sci-fi elements but might be clssified as soemthing else. U know the deal. Anyways.
Well Primer is #1, of course.
They Live. (I like John Carpenter films, The Thing is great/underrated as well, Escape from NY)
2001: A Space Odyssey. (A Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove)
I love the Tom Cruise flick Edge of Tomorrow, I'm certain it's way underrated. Based on a novel called "all you need is kill" Which I plan on reading sometime soon. (I also love Vanilla Sky, I think thats really high quality sci-fi, best cameron diaz performance IMO.)
A Scanner Darkley
I really like Fire in the sky for an alien flick too. That movie stands out to me because I think it's sequenced perfectly. The Faculty is a good one too. K-Pax, Interstellar, Being John Malkovich, Children of men, Bladerunner, 12 Monkeys,Donnie Darko, Snowpiercer, Ghostbusters, Robocop, Groundhog Day, The prestige, Sunshine, Predators(I like this one conceptually), V for Vendetta, Pitch Black, MEtropolis, I'd say The wizard of Oz. I'm forgetting abunch for sure.
I'd list the Matrix (and Terminator) but they stole the idea from Sophia Stewart.
I have a lot of other classics and truly old films that I'd list too. I like the invisible man for example. I'm not sure if Jordowski flicks fall into this category, The Holy Mountain. Zardoz is hysterical to me, I love that ****.
Fantastic Planet is one I'd highly recommend. It's animated but worth seeing for the artwork and music alone.
I'd also recommend the movie Cube...(don't see the sequel tho it's trash)
This list is terribly incomplete but I;ma stop. If u wanna pinpoint subgenres I can keep going.
Lucky you hadn't seen the original anime so your expectations is probably relatively low.... but fingers crossed it's as good as you said it is. I'll still try to keep my expectation very low though.
